What kind of pump do you use? Do you love it or hate it?

I use a Minimed 508. It's the same one I got when I went on the pump 6 years ago. It works great and I see no reason to change. Besides, I'm used to this one and I know it inside out. I was on it for 2 years and then off it for 4. I'm now back on it. Aside from a few scratches on the front, it's in great shape.

Opinions?

I'm on the minimed 522. I recently upgraded from the 511 because one of the buttons quit working and it was no longer under warranty. I got the 522 because I am hoping to add the CGM once insurance will cover it.

Life with the pump is so much better. I was so frustrated and depressed about my condition before the pump. No matter what I did I couldn't keep myself from having frequent hypos. Now with the pump, I can control my diabetes instead of it controlling me.

I sound like a commercial; Medtronic should be paying me for this endorsement.

I love my Cozmo. I've had it for almost 4 years and just got the upgrade to the new pump. It is waterproof--I swim laps 3x a week with no leaks. And it has reminders if I miss a meal bolus and when I need to change my set (I forget a lot). My BG control is better now than when I was on MInimed. It also has a cool menu feature to help figure out meal boluses. I'd never switch from Cozmo.

My son just got the new Animas 2020. So far great customer service. He's been able to swim with it. We chose it because of the really tiny increments you can dose. My son is 4 and barely weighs 40lbs so the tiny increments make a big difference for him. Our 1st choice was the cozmore though. Their were a lot of features we really loved and having the meter and pump 'talk' is great! The onlt thing I did not like about minimed was that they only have proprietary infusion sets, etc. I don't like being limited to only what they can produce.

Like the mother who posted earlier, I love the Animas for the small differences in amounts of insulin it provides. It is waterproof, can talk to your computer, has an easy to read display and provides a few cool freatures like "ringtone" type reminder alams you can download. I love my pump! I tried a minimed for a few days and it was great, too. I just love the Animas a bit more. Whichever you choose, just keep up the great control and life will be awesome!

Mini Med 508 and I love it! It's been great at controlling me for 19 years! My oldest daughter one too and loves it after 7 years of the shots.

If you continue to have difficulty it is ok, in my experience, to just skip the cap. I often don't use it -- and I've had no issues after 1+ years on the pump. The previous poster is correct, probably if you flip the thing over it will work. :)
