A few people are answering this wrong....

Men are not "just carriers" and HPV does directly affect men.

Men can develop cancer from HPV and genital warts from HPV. Penile and anal cancer can be caused by HPV. It is pretty rare to develop these cancers though, especially compared to the number of women who developed cervical cancer from their HPV. Men can also develop genital warts from their HPV (my fiance did). And, men can carry certain kinds of HPV that only affect women (like a cervical cancer kind). Of course if they carry a cervical cancer kind of HPV it won't do anything to them, but if they spread it to a woman it can cause health problems for her.

It doesn't affect men at all. They're latent carriers which mean they have no symptoms, they never know they're carriers, there's no test out there for them to find out.

It does not cause sterility. Not all women get cervical cancer if they have HPV, it only makes them more prone.

In answer to your first question: NO, they are different strains. Two types are low-risk and cause genital warts, the other two (16 and 18 I believe) are high-risk and may lead to cervical cancer. I do not understand the second question, but he certainly can have kids.

most men have no symptoms.... they run around having sex infecting however many women, one day they may get a wart and not even notice it and it goes away and they never realize they had one tiny little wart, or it may get big enough he notices. but most men never even realize they have it. it's women who have the changes and warts. a lot of women who don't know they have it find out when they get pregnant because the body's immune system is low. the solution to it is don't be lazy and expect your girlfriend to be on birth control, wear a condom.
