TBS has a feature called "Dinner & a Movie" which I have always enjoyed. You can check out their website for some interesting movie-themed dishes. Click on "recipes" on the left-hand menu, and you can browse by movie title or recipe name.

You could do something like a punch made with mountain dew and limeade (so that it's green) that could resemble Absinthe from Moulin Rouge. Or Fried rice and fried chicken for the Rush Hour movies, or black and white cookies for March Of The Penguins. Or try popcorn balls for Rookie of The Year (or any other baseball movie), or try something like a "sampler platter" of mall junk food to represent the movie Clueless. That could include chicken fingers, jalapeno poppers, soft pretzels, or anything else you can think of. You're choices were off to a good start too. But these are some things that will minimize your time in the kitchen. Good luck!

Out Of Africa
Spicy African Yam Soup
* 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
* 1 small onion, chopped
* 1 large sweet potato, peeled and diced
* 1 clove garlic, minced
* 4 cups chicken broth
* 1 teaspoon dried thyme
* 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
* 1 cup chunky salsa
* 1 (15.5 ounce) can garbanzo beans, drained
* 1 cup diced zucchini
* 1/2 cup cooked rice
* 2 tablespoons creamy peanut butter
DIRECTIONS
1. Heat the oil in a stockpot over medium heat. Saute onion, sweet potato, and garlic until onion is soft. Turn down heat if necessary to prevent burning.
2. Stir in the chicken broth, thyme and cumin. Bring to a boil, cover and simmer for about 15 minutes. Stir in salsa, garbanzo beans and zucchini. Simmer until tender, about 15 minutes.
3. Stir in the cooked rice and peanut butter until the peanut butter has dissolved. Serve hot with pita chips and a green salad.

How about a sports movie like Friday Night Lightsor The Longest Yard. Have superbowl type munchies, like hoagies, nachos, bean dip, etc.
One of my favorite snacks to indulge in is taco dip. Mix together beef and taco seasoning, and salsa. Put in the bottom of a bowl or tray, and top with a layer of shredded cheese and another layer of sour cream. Get a bag or two of Tostitos and dip away.

Well hopefully not POT hoping to get lucky. Desserts usually are way over the top in what is brought, but maybe a 15 bean salad would cause some eruptive stuff. Flirt the boss after getting them way drinked up and take lots of pictures.
