I have been diabetic for 10 yrs and have always eaten regular food. None of that diet coke or sugar free foods and whenever I have gotten lab results they have turn out normal. I just make sure to maintain my blood levels normal by working out and not over eating. I inject insulin so I got the worst kind. Is there something I am missing? Am I still damaging myself but it just doesn't show on the results? I also occasionally smoke po# which I know is wrong. But is it safer than regular smoking and drinking beer? Beer I also hear is good for the body if not doing it a lot? Any good facts and comments out there would be appreciated. Thanks

Pot is not safer than drinking beer or smoking cigarettes. Not sure why you think this is true but it isn't. You need to stay away from sugared foods and sodas and limit your carbs. Even though you test results come up ok your blood sugar is spiking when eat a regular diet with lots of carbs and sugars and then if you havne't eaten enough protein it drops drastically. Your goal is to keep as level as you can at ALL times. This means eating 3 low carb meals a day with a high protein snack between each meal and before bedtime. Limit your regular desserts and high sugar items to a half portion and only on special occasions. The damage you are doing is not repairable so take care of you diabetes now while you still can.

It sounds like you are not checking your blood sugar. With a glucose meter you will know exactly what your blood sugar is doing Smoking a little po# is not so bad but beer has lots of carbs and that will raise your blood sugar

alcohol is poison to a diabetic, it instantly turns to sugar in the blood stream so leave the beer alone. If your blood sugars are remaining in the normal range you are doing things right.
if you know pot smoking is wrong and you do it anyway, I doubt the seriousness of your other questions and statements. why would you insist on controlling your diabetes and risk your health smoking pot? makes no sense.

If you really want to see what's going on during the day inbetween you testing, go to your doctor and get hooked up to the three day test meter. You wear it 24/3. It will tell the doctor and you what your doing when you eat that REGULAR food, and have your Po# and alchohol. I did it and it's very interesting what shows up.
