Just found out that I slept with someone who was treated with HPV. I'm 29 and was wondering if I can pass this on to future BF?

If you contracted HPV from him, then it's very possible you could spread it to any future partner you have.

There are over 120 different kinds of HPV, not 20. Most are pretty harmless though. Only a few different kinds can cause cancer or warts.

Make sure you stay on top of your pap smears. Pap smears are the best thing a woman with HPV can get. They can detect any abnormalities on the cervix, like precancerous cells or cervical cancer. I've read, without proper screening (like pap smears) only about 1% of women with HPV actually go on to develop cervical cancer. That is why it is SO important for women to stay on top of this.

***Also, HPV is not always 100% transmitted. Nothing is for that matter. HPV is VERY common though and can be passed pretty easily, but it's not a 100% guarantee that if someone has sex with someone that they'll contract HPV from them.

Unfortunately yes. There are many different types of HPV (around 20). I believe three of which can cause cervical cancer, and some that cause genital warts.

It's important to keep up on your yearly exam to watch out for suspicious cells. Your doctor may want to identified the strain that was passed to you.

But don't feel lonely, HPV is a very prevalent STD, and many don't know they have it.

sorry yes.

HPV is known to 120 type strains but 37 are known to sexual transmitted disease with high contagion. It would be

spreaded through skin to skin contact with infected area during sexual intercourse, especially for genital area.

Also the HPV may cause genital warts. Some are visible, and some are invisible. But that do not mean there is no HPV

virus in your body.

I'm not sure but from what I've heard, the transmission rate for unprotected sex having HPV is 100%. It's not like herpes which may or may not pass with unprotected sex, it will transmit every time. Or so said Dr. Drew.
