I'm known to have anxiety/panic symptoms, I'm a worry wart, and I take meds for asthma and other things. I also exercize.

But I'm otherwise healthy.

My blood pressure goes from 91/70, to 137/77 in the same week.

once i had a panic attack and it shot up to 140 ish. the bottom number, im assuminig diastolic has always been fine and never fluctuates much, which I'm assuming is good?

But the systolic fluctuates VERY much all the time. It's never stable.

But that's also because I'm never stable. sometimes I run sometimes I don't, sometimes I'm anxious and freaking out, other times I'm not.

Is it OKAY to have your blood pressure fluctuate at ALL? Or should I be concerned?
Can stress/anxiety/panic/worry affect blood pressure?

If so, is this all dangerous for an otherwise healthy/active male?

Thanks.

The numbers you mentioned are FINE. I wouldn't worry about it. 140 is borderline, but everyone's blood pressure fluctuates throughout the day. You can check your BP 2 minutes apart, and the number will never be exactly the same. It is probably your stress making it go up to the 140's. Maybe you might want to see a doctor about that.

Two general suggestions:

1. Definitely see a doctor about your fluctuating blood pressure. While you're at it, get a complete physical if you haven't had one. Give him/her any and all related information (as you did in this post). Ask about exercise guidelines (what to watch for, etc. or are there any restrictions). Write down anything you want to ask about or discuss with the Dr. beforehand so you are sure to cover everything.

2. I am not a health professional, but I believe that stress/anxiety/panic would defnitely affect blood pressure. See a psychotherapist about your panic attacks/anxiety/freaking out. Regardless if this is related to your fluctuating blood pressure, you would benefit from having this addressed professionally.

Good luck to you.

Here is a very interesting link I am giving you, have yourself evaluated on line OK:

I note that your blood pressure readings fluctuate. This happens in every person and depends on their build, the time it is recorded as well as the position the person is in, i.e. is he lying down or standing, not to mention the cuff size. Treatment needs to be considered if the diastolic pressure (lower no. of the two) is consistently above 90mm. In medicine one needs to treat facts and not probabilities.
