The name of the condition is the Benz and can cause brain damage because your organs don't run off CO2. It can be fixed by placing the victim in a hyperbaric chamber.

It depends. People with COPD have more carbon dioxide in their blood because they retain it. The high carbon dioxide levels become their drive to breath. If they get too much oxygen and lower their carbon dioxide, they lose there drive to breath and this makes for some serious complications even can cause death.

Carbon Dioxide is an odorless, poison fume, coming from a car, or gas generator, for example. When there is too much absorption into the the blood stream, one tends to lose their ability to know they are becoming ill. They become light headed, weak, and quickly lose consciousness. Death comes fast.
NEVER EVER work inside a garage where a generator is running, or even put one out side of your window, say if you lose power, and use one for emergency lights, or to run you refrigerator, as the fumes can come in the open window. In a vehicle, never sit in your car with the motor running for long periods of time, with out good air circulation.
This is a HUGE cause of death during the winter months.
Remember, you can't smell this odor. It's a quick, silent killer. To learn more, contact your local Fire Department. And stay safe!! Great question.

i'm no doctor, but the brain needs oxygen in our blood to function. if there is too much carbon dioxide, that means there is little oxygen. in that case, you'd "black out"....and die if not given oxygen soon.
