"The word vegan, usually pronounced [viːgən], was originally derived from "vegetarian" in 1944 when Elsie Shrigley and Donald Watson, frustrated that the term "vegetarianism" had come to include the eating of dairy products, founded the UK Vegan Society.[5] They combined the first three and last two letters of vegetarian to form "vegan," which they saw as "the beginning and end of vegetarian."[5][6] The British Vegan Society defines veganism in this way:" -wikipedia

Va-Gan Vi-gan V - GAN or V - GON depends on if it is pronounced southern or northen or western or american via foreign language. Via-gan vah-gan a rose is a rose no matter who calls it what. it all works. You will have to explane waht it means anyway more know than use to but you will still get "What?"

Definatly VEEgan, not VAYgan. It can be a very healthy lifestyle if you pay attention to what you eat. Same with any diet.
