Also good "The Omnivores Dilemma". The first third of the book is dedicated to factory farming, and goes into great detail of beef production in particular. The author is not a vegetarian, so there is less of an agenda than with some books. The next part of the book is in detail about the industrial corn farming and the amount of by-products and frankenfood in convenience foods. Whatever your decision, this is good knowledge to have.

i enjoyed Winn Dixie =D As for the 8 year olds i think of possibly they are growing to be up too speedy yet whilst the father and mom are effective with it then enable em examine! easily, the actuality that they are able to comprehend over 3 hundred pages is incredibly solid and the actuality that they are examining in any respect is impressive! So, in case you notice a team of 8 300 and sixty 5 days old females playing highway Fighter or something then you definately would be slightly worried >.>'

the moosewood cookbooks (there are several now) are probably the most comprehensive cookbooks for vegetarianism out there- i love and grew up with them (and am NOT a vegetarian, they're just that good)....they talk in-depth about food origins, but also about the things that are important in a vegetarian diet, the ethics of it, etc. check them out- also an amazing restaurant in upstate new york!
my favorite is 'sundays at moosewood,'- lots of ethnic cuisine and explanations about them!
