and I wish I had sooner...but I think we should all just ignore the stupid questions here. Don't feed their fires. It's too easy for people to get additional accounts on yahoo so working to ban anyone less then a top contributor seems worthless since they have nothing to lose cept more of there already useless time.

If all they want is attention don't give it to them..

I wish top contributors could be interviewed and set as moderators. It'd do many forums much good I think if yahoo would review posters who can prove they are competent and allow them to remove questions and submit trolls to an abuse team that paid more attention to such moderators. Anyone else agree?

We are here because we share similiar views and took the conscious step to better our lives, bodies and world around us..and this is a great place to learn from each other. Wish we could protect it better from the status quo.

misseh - "How about a nice juicy steak right off the grill? mmm?"

Questions like these have nothing to do with lifestyle choices.

sunrat - It's not about monitoring unruly children..and handling trolls does nothing to keep them away. I don't think having a moderator would stop people from expressing anything besides idiots. A moderator could still be monitored by yahoo and other people just the same. I mean top contributors to each area...like lillyian as an example. I think someone with 25%-50% best answers for a forum category and a certain level would have too much to lose if they didn't keep themselves in check.

As far as reporting trolls..we can - but how much do they pay attention or does it seem to work? or how easy is it for them to come back as another handle.

I'd almost be willing to pay 20-30 bucks a year and make this a service so we could keep people from making abuse accounts.

You are right about ignoring them. And don't fret about not ignoring them sooner; we all go through that phase where we think if we yell at them enough, *put them in their place,* or break things down with our vast knowledge, we can change their ways.

...But trolls aren't the deepest fellows around. The sad thing is they only care that they receive attention. If a child is yelling and belligerent, or pulling the "why? why? why?" game, would you sit there and argue or try to prove them wrong? Probably not.

Good luck with your utopia. I wish everyone would listen.
I would totally be a moderator. NO slack for negativity or meanness!
lol
Until then, everyone must do his/her part in reporting them.

I totally agree with you. At present if I see a troll type answer I red flag it. But it is such a waste of time and energy to have to put up with such garbage.

We come here to get advice and give help... and it is the same old same old. You would think people had better things to do with their time than take cheap shots at vegetarians and vegans.

I will never answer a stupid troll question.

Tried ignoring them for 6 months, did'nt work, tried getting them banend, didn't work.

The problem is there are always many people who are new, don't know the trolls, or don't think before typing. So there is alwasy a queue of people ready and willing to feed the trolls.

To be honest, i now give as good as I get, if they choose to report me, good on them, i don't care anymore. It turned into a silly forum that i will happily walk away from when i'm not bored.

I agree with you. Y!A has many categories where people are picked on and put down for no reason. I wish they did have tighter controls, but they don't.
I normally ignore the insulting questions as I'm sure many others do as well. Like my mother always says, "They cannot get on stage and perform without and audience". I refuse to sit in the audience and give them or their dumb questions the time of day. If I see something highly offensive, I will flag it and report them. Otherwise, I keep perusing along until I see something that is worth my time.

I agree with you. They are here for attention and they get plenty of it. This section is becoming a joke. Why dont you add a list of all trolls on here?

I think there are many new ppl coming here all the time, and they dont know who are all the trolls. But I already know some of them and no longer answer to their q's, like Sister M and Foxhunter.

I generally pass on the inflammatory questions and simply move along until something interesting catches my eye. Those dopes don't bother me and, in fact, I rather enjoy poking at them now and then.

I absolutely loathe the idea of moderation though, and would leave if it were implemented. It seems insulting to the many intelligent and level-headed people here, to monitor them like so many unruly children. From what I've seen, we veg*ans do an excellent job of handling the trolls ourselves. Better to have a flurry of over-the-top responses to a given question, imo, than to see this area so tightly-controlled that people refrain from expressing themselves.

As for choosing one from the top contributors -- surely you jest? Some of them are the worst offenders.

You mentioned a mod to "submit trolls to an abuse team" -- we are all capable of doing that ourselves -- just click the flag under the inappropriate question and send it off.

Definitely... lol... I should try to control myself more when I see those idiots posting dumb questions...
Good idea though, the less people responding to these trolls the better... Maybe then they will stop posting so much and use their extra time to find a good therapist...lol

Star for you...

No, I don't think we should ignore their questions, maybe not answer them, but if you know something about one of the trolls to inform others, it should be said in an answer to inform others in V nV. They should be reported as spam when their question is totally out of context with the content of the section and disgusting.

Misseh, he is more refering to people who come on a vegetarian vegan board and ask stupid questions like can vegetarians eat their own boogers? or whats better to eat, a vegetarian or a vegan? Theres a huge difference between a difference in opinion and flat out harassment.

There will be some, myself include who are answering on the Food and Drink list and will not see it as being in the Vegan sub-category, from time to time.
My advice would be to give the answer a thumbs down unless it is abusive, and then report it.
