what is your reason for being a vegan?? I always KNEW that the killing of animals for humans to consume must be a terrible sight and inhumane for the animal, however I ignored what I knew in the back of my mind.

I saw a film on animal slaughter and it made me throw up.

I would like to know what made you a vegan? How hard was it or how DIFFERENT was it at first.

Because it's the most ethical thing to do in order to reduce suffering of animals and help the enviroment recover. i dont like the idea of being a cause of suffering. Humans dont need meat to survive, so slaughering of animals is completely needless. Also, meat makes you sick which proves that vegan diet is a more natural choice for humans.

First month was a bit complicated. I had to get used to shopping more often (but also less at times to always have fresh vegetables. As a vegetarian I ate more processed stuff, and now as a vegan I love to cook my own food. It's easy and fun! Wish I did it sooner, but I always thought it would be more difficult.

Excluding milk chocolate from my diet was hardest bit, because I was always a chocoholic, but now I cant get enough of dark chocolate (which is vegan and so much healthier). :)

I went vegan once for a few months because I was having terrible stomach problems and the medications and diets the doctors put me on weren't really helping. In the 2 months I ate vegan, I did not have a single stomach ache which was incredible, because before I would be sick several times a week. When I first started it, it wasn't that hard because I had my mind set that I was going to stick to it. The food wasn't that lacking either. Vegan diets can still have flavor and variety and be filling. You just have to know what to make and buy. But it started to harder towards the middle of the second month. I started to miss eating meat and dairy. I remember going out to diner with my family and on the dessert menu there was tiramisu, which is my favorite. I had a very hard time passing it up. And then at home, when everyone else is having BBQ steak, my gardenburger frozen dinner didn't look as delicious. I ended up quiting the diet when I went to visit some relatives out of town and they made this big dinner for me, which I wasn't expecting, and the dinner definitely wasn't vegan. lol. Well, I didn't want to be rude, and I was missing meat and dairy anyway, so I just quit right then and dug in.

So I guess what I'm saying is, that it is a lot more healthy, and humane, but it can be hard to stick with if your like me and have a hard time resisting temptation.

I am not a vegan, however, I am a vegetarian. I know this might be silly but Napolean Dynamite got me to become one. When they shot the cow. It was a few years ago & I never knew how they killed animals, and even though in the real life, people kill animals 10x more harshly then what they did in the movie by just shooting it, it finally put me into perspective. That it is inhumane and HORRIBLE to torture animals for food, clothing, etc. I have also seen a few videos & I have just cried so much. And also, subtracting meat from your diet is so healthy. Yes, it gives you protein but I still have nuts, and soy which is filled with it! [and healthy fat, not fat that clogs up your arteries.] If you are not a vegetarian or vegan I highly suggest you become one! Not only are you saving animals lives, but you are going to be leading a more healthy lifestyle.

I used to be a vegetarian, and my friend is a vegan. I think she did it a lot to lose weight and be more healthy. Also, she hates animal cruelty.

I follow only one Philosophy, and it stems from this statement:

"Everything that glitters is not gold and everything that is edible is not food."

*A wise man once said: "Know your friends, know your food, and above all know yourself."
