my son who is 8 had the same thing, he said his heart was beating fast and when i felt it, it was frighteningly fast, we saw a doctor and he arranged an ecg and all was fine however the cardiologist said if this happens at least once a month we must go back as there is a condition which causes the heart to go extremely fast and although not serious at the time can cause long term damage to the heart, my advise is to get his heart checked out , just to be on the safe side.

You should get him to a doctor for an annual physical and bloodwork. There are many bad things that happen to sports players because they didn't know about a prior condition. Tell the doctor what he is experiencing and let them go from there. The heart is suppose to speed up when you exercise but it can go too fast.

My best friend was a keen rugby player at school and died of a heart attack when we were both 16 because of a heart condition that was undiagnosed and because he pushed himself so much at sports. your grandson needs to be properly checked out and diagnosed. Hopefully if there is a problem he can get treatment and care and still enjoy being active - just make sure he doesnt ignore it and carry on.
