I've heard that the ECG and the Echo can sometimes miss a problem with the heart. What should one do to find out for sure if there is an issue with the heart, or any of the arteries and blood vessels?

The most accurate is a combination of 4 tests to reach a final diagnosis:
1)echo.
2)thallium stress test .
3)CT/MRI SCAN is conclusive.
4)Angiography.

a heart cath. would be your best bet. In basic terms it shoots a radiopaque dye (xray dye) into your vessels and on a continuous running xray it shows the dye travel and illuminates your vessels. this lets the doc. know if you have any blockage in the vessels in the heart. Your Echo checks your valves of the heart to make sure the flow is correct in the heart.

They did a full body ultra sound for me. Head to toe. I had a full MRI as well The ultra sound showed a leaky valve and an enlarged heart. The MRI confirmed a young stroke

CTA Scan. Coronary Tomography Angiogram with Calcium Scoring. Most insurances will not pay for it, but it is amazing the calcium plaques or bloackages it will show.
