If given the option I am sure that you would want the child to grow up in a mature stable environment. I am not saying that you couldn't provide that but you seem pretty young. Why don't you talk to the people who are going to take the child and ask them if you can be involved in the child's life. You could be the auntie who takes the child to all of the cool places and shopping, tell secrets with and gets stay up late with, without having to deal with the day to day life of raising a child.

Grandparents would have first rights before a friend so offer to help watch them if they need someone so you can still share time with her and when you get married and have a family of your own, you will have some experience under the belt on what to do and not do with kids :)

I know you care. But caring just doesn't pay for the food and Dr. pills and clothes and toys.

You will just have to stay around and babysit once in awhile to feel comforted and build a bond.
