I mean most of the time you hear things about keeping kids off drugs, but what if the kids are fine and one or both of their parents do drugs? What do the kids do? It's not like they can ground their parents or just tell them to stop.

Ok thanks for the help but you can't just convince your parents to stop that sort of stuff because people on drugs aren't likely to listen, especially to their own kid.

The police know about it, but they can't catch him. My Mom knows (it's not her at all) and my teachers know. It's just tough knowing my Dad's gonna kill himself.

All the kid can do is learn from their parents stupid mistakes & remember that life their parents lead when the kid is being pressured or tempted to "just give drugs a try". As you said, its not like they can just ground them or tell them to stop.
If the child is at risk of abuse or neglect, then I think it is very important for the child to speak up. To a school counsellor or another person in authority that the child feels comfortable with. Talking about it helps.
No child should have to live a life where their parents selfish wants come first.

Hold your head up high sweets, life will change for you.

That's where you're wrong. Kids CAN tell their parents to stop by telling another adult who can do something about this to MAKE THEM STOP.
If I knew my parents were on drugs I would call somebody. I would tell a relative or if it was really that bad, I would call the cops or tell my teacher. Kids should not be put in this kind of environment. They should really tell their school teacher. This problem will NOT be taken lightly.

I remember the teacher at my sons school called Child Protected Services on ME just because my son was always tired in class. Closed case, my son was just an insomniac. But my point is that teachers will protect a child. So if it's you or someone you know, you should tell them that.

First thing I would called the cops then if that doesn't work I would try to get them into a rehab program and get them off of the drugs. They are in danger your life and those around them especially if they are on drugs and drive. My brother got in an auto accident with someone that was on drugs and he wind up with a broken jaw and the girl in the car had both of her knees broken I dont know what happen to the guy but I hope he went to prison for a long time. good luck I pray for you.

Since you are running the sober part of the family, you have two choices:

1) if they aren't annoying you, just providing food, clothing, shelter, water and you can get to school and do okay, you could probably stay. Essentially, you are neglected kids and you are raising yourself.

I am VERY PROUD OF YOU!!!!!!!!

The next choice is if you want to get away from them, call the police and the child protective agency. Tell your friend's parents, too, because they be fine with having an extra child around.

TELL SOMEONE! The best thing to do is honestly to tell someone. A trusted adult is a great person to go to. If you are still in school go to a guidence counciler or a favorite teacher and let them know what is going on at home. Someone needs to know about this because if there are drugs at home, it is not a good place for the children to be.

If this is you that you are speaking of, please please please, tell someone about this. Take the action and let someone help you work through this situation. You will be a stronger person because of it and in the end your parents should thank you for helping them.

I would talk to your Dad about it. Tell him that he's letting you down. He may get made. But, parents really don't want to let their kids down. They just act very selfish sometimes. I would avoid getting the police involved. You could ask your mother to act on this. Maybe it's time for mom and you to move on and live elsewhere.

You sound like a caring person with a lot of sense. Take care of yourself. I'm sorry, but there's not much you can do to change someone else's addictive behavior. Please focus on staying healthy and stable yourself. Alanon/Alateen is a really good resource for young people who have loved ones stuck in the substance abuse cycle.

Go to alanon for support. Because there really is nothing else you can do if your parents are doing drugs. You can just watch. Sorry,.
