I learned Greek throught reading only. first teaching myself the alphabet and how to pronouncing it then moved on to the language. If I could to that then you should be able to learn just about anything through reading. reading will at least give you foundation to stand on and give you basis for a good question for a teacher, mentor, and/or a friend who can help.

We learn through all sorts of things, mostly seeing what others do and copying that behavior. To suggest that we can only learn throught reading is insane.

we learn by doing things or by watching things happen. when you are reading it is like watching things happen. So it is not the only way we can learn
