A word of advice - 'affordable' products, i.e cheap ones from shops are not worth it. You'll end up spending much more money trying to find something that works, so you might as well get something from a vets and have done with it. Veterinary treatment is more expensive because it WORKS - shops are not licensed to sell the appropriate drugs, which is why they can't justify putting higher prices on their stuff.
Get some flea spray from your vets like Indorex, Staykil or Acclaim. If you have pets, you will need to treat them too of course - recommend Frontline spot-on. Once you've got the fleas off your pet and out of your house, regular use of Frontline Plus on your pet will treat both them and the house by killing the flea eggs. I don't think there's anything you can do to 'get rid of the bites' other than put soothing cream like Savlon on them to reduce the skin irritation.
Sorry, I know you wanted cheap products but I'm here to tell you you'd be wasting your time and money. As with everything, you get what you pay for.

First thing you want to do is put the cat's on Frontline Plus. Advantage works, but it only kills adult fleas. Frontline Plus kills adult fleas, larvae, and eggs....and it prevents more fleas from infesting your cat for up to 30 days. For the carpets, try a specially formulated carpet powder. The nice thing about the Frontline Plus is that the fleas that are still in your home won't be able to reinfest your cats, so all you've got to do is purge them from your fabrics. I read an answer on here once about a woman using Dawn dish soap in a steam cleaner. She said it killed all the fleas in the carpet, but you have to make sure you rinse it really well or it will leave a film.

Bob Martin flea bombs are excellent, but you do need to read the instructions carefully. Do not activate them around people or pets, as they litterally explode with powder. Cover all food utenstils etc, and make sure you hoover and wipe down surfaces once they have done their thing, best to leave the house for a few hours and take pets or let them outside while it is working. And don't forget birds in cages and fish tanks!

I'm not sure what you can use to get rid of the bumps but I have been told that Windex will kill fleas. It's affordable and worth a shot I would say.

You need to treat the animal with a product like frontline plus and then for a few days, vacuum constantly. You cant get rid of the bites, they have to heal on their own. Use an anti itch medication.
