OK City is a pleasant small city that is the capital of OK and therefore has lawyers and businesses related to that as well as the oil industry. The state is proud of its history as the Indian Territory and the city has museums related to that and to genuine and rodeo cowboys. It was the path of the cattle drives from Texas as the railroads moved west through Kansas to the north. There are a number of modest history and art museums. It was traumatized by the bombing of the Federal Building that killed a great many people and has a memorial that fits into the rebuilding of downtown that was going on at the time. The major military facilities and large universities of the state are located not far away, but in other towns, which means the flavor those institutions bring to a town in missing. Oklahoma City is hot and dry in the summer and is in tornado alley - the diagonal path through the U.S. where the cold fronts from the north and west collide with the warm humid air from the south giving major storms in the spring. Winters in OKC are cold and ice storms are commonly much heavier than further south (where it is not cold enough) or north (where it is not wet enough.)
The city is a considerable distance from larger cities, Dallas being the closest at 250 miles and direct airline service is with cities about the same size. There are a number of outdoor activities and some very nice scenery, especially in the eastern part of the state. Hunting is popular.

I graduated from OCU and it is a wonderful school! You will find they will help you find great things to do in the area once you get there. I must warn you that while the campus of OCU is wonderful, don't walk to far as it goes downhill (and then uphill) quickly. Downtown OKC is about 5 minutes away and you can find pretty much anything you want there. They have the Redhawks ballpark, the new theater, the Ford center (for Blazers hockey and concerts), the Civic Center (Wicked will be here in June) and some wonderful restaurants.

I think you will truly love OKC. I know I do.
