I am not suggesting that Christians be rude to others. But if I am treating someone who is deceived as if they are my brother I am only supporting his evil. It would be like going to the doctor and him not telling you that that mole on your neck is cancer for fear of upsetting you.

freemonk if you will check your churches history you will find that it wasn't Christians who done all of that to the Native Americans,it was the catholics who done it.

houstonp you need to read on further with your scripture.Matthew 7:5 tells you to get the beam out of your own eye,(then you can see clearly to get the mote out of thy brothers eye.) You might also read Matthew 18:15-17 since you don't think we are to judge.

Maybe this might help you all.Have you ever told your child, I will not tolorate this kind of behavour? That doesn't mean that you hate them it means you love them and want them to be sound.

sweetgur it's no wonder why your not a Christian. You have absolutely no understanding of God's word. Please forgive me if that sounds rude but the truth is you are a fruit of just exactly what I am talking about here. It's not your fault and I am sure you are a very nice person. But Christians today have no light. They are no longer the salt of the earth. They can't be identified as christians because there is no difference in them than in the world its self. Please open your heart to God's word.He loves you very much.

I've not read this passage now. But I want to tell you that even Christ is intolerant of other religions which are false. He was really intolerant of them because He knew that they will lead to hell. Christ says Himself that He is the way to God. If Christ is not intolerant of other religions, then how will He judge? Food for thought.
It does not mean we should hate those who practice these false religions. We should love them by telling them the truth. You know the truth.
May God bless you in Christ name.

I see nothing in either of those scriptures indicating religious intolerance. Paul is simply saying that there will be people professing to be Christians who are not or thAT SOME PEOPLE WILL TRY TO SEDUCE US AWAY FROM TRUTH.

The very fact that Jesus was the very embodiment of what happens as the result of religious intolerance should make Christians the most tolerant of all people. We needn't sit around and be wishy washy in our beliefs, but religious intolerance is not biblical, no matter how much so called Christians or Pagans or Atheists claim that it is. God has given man his freedom to choose. Just because some people choose silly things, wrong things, or things that we do not like is no cause to be intolerant of the people, the sin, yes, the people, no.

Gee whiz! I am so amazed at what people believe about Christians. Just because someone calls himself a Christian does not make him a Christian. If Satan calls himself a Christian would he be one? Of course not! The same is true of anyone else. Saying ain't being. All kinds of horrors have been committed by people claiming to do it in the name of Jesus. Look at the act. Was it a Christian act? If the answer is no, then the person committing the act was NOT a Christian any more than my sleeping in the garage makes me a Chevrolet.

I mean, people, get real! Shrug off the idiots who say idiot things whether they claim to be Christians or Atheists or Pagans or Mouseketeers. A Christian will behave very nicely most of the time. If he makes a mistake, he confesses it and tries to do better. If someone claims to be a Christian and is not nice and is not loving and accepting of all people, like Jesus who loved all but hated sin, then it is very safe to say that that person at the very least does not act Christian and indeed may not be one.

Please do not condemn an entire body of people because some people claiming to be a part of that group are bad people. It is patently unfair and intellectually dishonest to do so.

Who needs a doctor, the sick or the well? I think that means that it is the nonbeliever that needs more spiritual aid than the believer. We all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God...we all need aid.--some more than others. The Bible says to turn the other cheek. But, I don't think that means you have to be made a fool of either. If a Christian gets in a person's face big time, makes a person very upset, how well received will the Christian's wittiness be accepted by that person? We are to be IN the world, not OF the world.

You know the problem with cristianity is that it has so little to do with the teachings of christ. Love thy neighbor as thyself. You can disagree with somone and be tolerant. Unfortunatley Christians throughout time have caused so much damage because they HAD to be 'right'. How do you think Jesus would have felt about young girls being burned at the stake because they were 'witches'? Or the Native Americans who were slaughtered, raped, had their children taken away and abused to make them 'Christian"? There are more of these types of things than i care to name. My point is that you should stop worrying about who's right and live your life in a way that you can be a good example to all you encounter. That would be the best way to lead others to your faith. Somehow i have the feeling that is not your intention anyhow. You are having too much fun sitting on your high horse and condemning.

Christians Love All But Are Not Tolerant of All Other False Religions

2007-05-19 02:54:16 · answer #5 · answered by Anonymous · 1 0

Christians don't think they are suppose to be tolerant of other religions. Try reading a book of heresies and heretics where for the past 2000 years Christians have been nothing but intolerant. How many cultures other than their own have they totally destroyed?

The Idea of Christianity is forgivness, and ministry by good deeds. Salvation in faith and missionary with Holy spirit. That is what Jesus did and taught.
Tolerance is not complicity or participation, but patience while the good word is being spread and then waiting for it to be understood.

Absolutely no clue at all from your reference verses, but I have the King James version of the Bible and King James kicked my ancestors out of Scotland. However, another quote from the Bible would be "Judge not that ye may be judged," or as the USMC and the Rangers say, "Let God sort 'em out."

Yes I read the verses that you have pointed out. This is my opinion and only an opinion. a few years back I took a defending the faith class at my Church and was taught that we as followers of Jesus Christ are not to disagree with other religions, but we are to listen to what they have to say & share our belief's with them as well.

Who in this day and age is the final arbiter of who is or isn't worthy of toleration?

You can be as rude and intolerant as you want, but I doubt seriously that this wins anyone to Christ. Except for other rude, intoerant people.
