rodents have huge balls.... it just goes with the territory.

it's not an unreasonable question... yes you can, but it's really not worth the money or the risk to your hammie.
A lot of people dislike the look of their huge... well... anyway... love him anyway and now you know to get a girl next time.

Are you serious?

Male hamsters do have huge balls, that is true! but you should not view any part of your pet unsightly and gross.

My syrian hamster has massive balls, many human men would be jealous of him! But its just part of him. I could never consider getting him neutered and put him through an unneccisary procedure and pain.

My husband thinks our hamster Harry's balls are a true asset to him, and loves to show him, balls and all to visitors! It does make an interesting talking point in the house.

You have a stud for a hamster, be proud, and love him. When I first got him a year ago, I too was pretty alarmed at the size and apperance of his balls but he is a fantastic fella, really laid back, calm and sociable. Please dont consider doing this to your hamster.

I recently had my kitten neutered. He had fairly large genitals prior to surgery and they remained somewhat large for a little while after. It has been about 4 or 5 months now and they are still fairly noticeable. Like humans, every cat is different. I don't think your vet was trying to cheat you. As for the hair, well...he is a cat. They are supposed to have hair all over, so that isn't a problem.

Neutering small animals is risky; such small, delicate surgery can go wrong much more easily than surgery on a larger animal like a cat or dog. If you really can't enjoy your pet the way he is, you should probably give him to someone who doesn't mind his balls and get a female or a different kind of animal.

You shouldn't neuter a hamster for cosmetic reasons. Next time, buy a female!

Don't do it. Hamsters don't do well under anaesthetic, so they should only be put under if it's really necessary for their health. I don't think any decent vet would advise you have this done.

Hamstesr have big balls. Get used to it. They're not doing any harm, and you're not to have your pet operated on just because you don't like how he looks, that's just selfish.

are you sure that they are his scrotum and not his butt? most likely if he is a large breed like a European then that is his butt---and I'm pretty sure that no vet would neuter a hamster---it would be impossible to give him pain meds or to make him sleep thorough it without killing him --- it's hard to do that to a ferret or a rabbit because how small they are much less a hammie---sorry
don't listen to these people! yea he might be able to "satisfy" a girl hammie but you shouldn't get one unless you know how to breed hammies and how to raise babies (it's hard because if you don't do it right the mom will eat her babies!)
and even if you knew all that you'd have to be prepared to take care of a litter of baby hammies and find them all new homes and the ones you couldn't find homes for, you would have to keep and raise-and hamsters aren't supposed to share cages past a certain age so you'd have to get separate cages for each hammie...it's too much hassle if you don't know what you're getting yourself into, and that's not fair to you or the hammies so don't get a female

It is possible to neuter rodents. You need to find a small animal knowlegable vet. However it will probably cost you anywhere from $50-100. Not really worth it if your doing it simply because they are unsightly.

Now come on. Don't hold it against the little guy for having such a large set of "balls". Think of it this way; he's gifted!
For the sake of all the lady hamsters, PLEASE don't get him neutered!!!!

Why would you cut off his pride and joy? Hamster's lives are short enough, why make it miserable as well?
