When I can, I try to help out the food banks for the homeless as I was once homeless myself.
It's embarassing to have to go to a church and ask for a box of food.

We mostly give through our church. I know where that money goes. If there is another charity, I research it as good as I can. My favorite is St. Jude Hospital in Memphis, TN. My cousin was sick and got free help there. I know that they are on track. I try to find people that I know personally that have been helped by the charity so I know it is real. I believe that you will know in your heart what you need to do. If you have doubt, it probably isn't right.

charity begins at home.. i was involved with to many charities that invloved the administrators getting their money off the top..and very little go to the people who really needed it..
family comes first..and then i might buy some lotto tickets to help the schools out! lol..
but my wife has a very needy brother with six girls..and a wife but no job..so we help them out

I try to give to the ones that suffer globally...AIDS & Hunger.
But, giving money just isn't enough in my opinion, I like to be apart of organization and help out when I can in person.

I'm on the board of directors of a couple of them. I donate and fundraise for those organizations on a regular basis.
Being on the board of directors gives me additional insight to the internal issues as well as the needs of each of the programs.
