You might have problems renting being that you are younger than 25 years old. If they let you rent a car...they will probably add in an underage surcharge:

https://www.budget.com/budgetWeb/html/en/customer/commonquestions/index.html#What%20are%20the%20age%20requirements%20for%20renting?
If you work for a large company...you might want to check with them to see if they have some type of corporate discount with an auto rental company. Some corporate discounts include the insurance and waive the underage surcharge.
Also...the rental company's website should give you estimates for the insurance. Otherwise, you can alway call the customer service for each. No harm in asking for quotes.

Check with your credit card. Often they will offer complementary rental car insurance.
If that doesn't work out, rental car insurance is expensive, often working out to at least an extra 50% or more of the cost to rent the car in the first place.

depending on which service you use,it would range between 8-15 dollars a day.if you dont mind what kind a car you rent, look for rental company called Rent a Wreck.the cars usually have a ding or 2 but the cars are reliable.most people usually insure thru their own insurance.age shouldnt matter at all,you just need a credit card. good luck

Why don't you ask the rental agency, ya know, the place that knows how much they charge for insurance? Cost varies from agency to agency, town to town, state to state. Is it necessary? Not if you can pay cash upfront on the spot to replace the rental car if it's wrecked and/or pay damages out of pocket to the person or thing you wreck into, in addition to any injuries you may cause.

If you don't own a car, and you don't have your own policy you're probably best to just go with the coverage that the car rental agency will sell you.
It's rather expensive coverage but if you damage, or even wreck the car you will walk away unscathed.
