5 MONTHS old pomeranian . she is developed a limp, pain seems to be in the thigh when pulled outwards, she tries to sit leaning againsta wall, able to run on 3 legs, eating well n otherwise fine. initially i gave her brufen , then i consulted a vet n added neurobion forte and complamina orally. i'v tried piroxicam andt prednisolone injection once too. not much improvement though, but does NOT seem to have worsened. vet says its a muscle incoordination. she s been on regular calcium, vitamin supplements n vaccinated , WHAT DO I DO? im not panicking but worried.

it could be a few things - what tests did the first vet do on her?

if you are worried, take her to another vet and get a second opinion..... and let them know they are the second vet you have visited about the problem and that you came to them for a second opinion because you are worried. this will prompt the vet to test more thouroughly and explain things to you better.

You should get a new vet and a second opinion. You have tried an awful lot already without success..

What do you feed her? Before going thru all that, I would have checked to make sure she wasn't just experiencing growing pains.. Unless she is in severe pain, it's best not to give pain medication to a young dog.. They tend to get running around too much when they are all medicated up and they do more damage than good.

Check with another vet.. I wouldn't panic or worry yet, but would find a new vet that isn't so big on medicating everything.. Find the source, don't medicate the pain..

I would advise another vet too. 'Muscle incoordination'? Sounds like bit of a vague, rubbish diagnosis to me. I would've thought hip pain would be more likely.

I can't really say anything against the diagnosis of one who's actually examined the animal (OK I know I just did) but if you're not happy with the results you've had so far then by all means get a second opinion.

I think I'd get a 2nd opinion. My toy poodle developed a limp & after an xray, she was diagnosed with a bad knee & after surgery, she's acting like it never happened. It's also not unheard of for a toy sized dog to have hip displasia. So, please talk to some of your friends about what vet they see & get her seen by someone else. She shouldn't be this uncomfortable this long.
Hope all turns out well.

Get a second opinion. Maybe your dog fell and it might have a dislocated joint. Animals bear up to pain and discomfort well. Unfortunately, they can't tell us what ails them and they are not the cry babies that we humans are.

I'm sorry to hear about your situation. No one would know for sure what to do except your vet, so why dont you give her a ring a ding ding. Good luck.

Take her to another vet -- the one you've gone to is useless. It is unacceptable for the poor puppy to be in pain for this long.
