The problem I have with devout Christians is that many disbelieve outright in any sense of relativity whatsoever.
How can we know what pleasure even means without some sort of discomfort or pain?
How can we know what pain even IS without some sense of comfort or happiness?
The concept of Heaven is bogus. Without any pain, sadness, or any sense of suffering at all, no one can even recognize pleasure, peace or happiness. Utopia is a concept, but can never be a reality.
Likewise, without any sense of joy, pleasure, happiness or excitement, suffering cannot exist as a constant.
Everything must occur on a sliding scale of pleasure vs. pain.
For example, how could anyone appreciate sweets if you never taste anything other than sweets?
The Christian idea of Heaven is a only a concept and a myth. Nothing more. Same goes for Hell. Suffering is needed to be able to experience pleasure, and vice versa.
Anybody have a more cogent argument?
