Ive been told it is unhealthy to either sleep shortly after eating or have a late night snack. Why is that? Do you gain weight? And if so why?

It's not really unhealthy per sae, but you don't burn the calories you just ingested, so you might gain some weight.

Yes it can cause weight gain and certain kinds of food have a lot of unhealthy things. You don't burn anything at all and it makes digesting food harder your body slows down when you are sleeping my sis gain 20lbs when she started working late nights because she would eat and go to sleep and her doc said that was the cause

It's because if you lie down after eating, the food can come up while you're asleep and you will asphixiate (sp?). Which means you will choke on it, and die. It's always good to wait about an hr.
