It shows that they are not following the Doctrines of Christ. In short they are Anti Christ. So members of that church wake up....That is not the Christian Church built by God.

The following will explain why those who have the responsibility of raising the children as Christians are required to attend this class..
Infant Baptism (1250-1252)
Children need the new birth of Baptism to be freed from darkness and brought into God's family. Because infant Baptism shows God's total gratuitousness, the Church (and parents) would deny the children a priceless gift if they were not baptized shortly after birth. Infant Baptism has certainly been practiced since the second century and quite possibly from the very beginning of the Church since Scripture speaks of "households" being baptized (See Acts 16:15, 33; 18:8; 1 Cor 1:16).
Need for Beginning Faith (1253-1255)
To be baptized, the person needs only a "beginning faith" (not a perfect and mature faith). This beginning faith requires a community of believers within which the believer's faith can develop. Because this baptismal faith must grow, every year at Easter time the Church celebrates the renewal of baptismal promises.
Especially important is the role of the parents. Also, godparents must be firm believers and ready to help the person's faith. Actually, the whole Church bears responsibility for developing the grace of Baptism

The fact that you're not married will not prevent the Catholic Church from baptizing your baby. The only reason a priest might post-pone a baptism is if he believes that the child will not be raised in the Catholic faith. But if you're taking your daughter to church every Sunday, that certainly indicates you intend to raise her Catholic. I have a friend with a son out-of-wedlock and they had no problems baptizing him at a Catholic Church.

And it's important to note that the Catholic church only requires that ONE of the Godparents be a Catholic in good standing. The other (god mother or godfather) can be any religion. The classes that are required are there to make certain that the parents understand the importance of this sacrament.

For your info, the Catholic Church is not worried like other non-Catholic churches about loosing their members, just because some of it's adherents(members) prefer the Catholic Church to change to suit their liking or ways. As Catholics, we believed in the sacred traditions. So certain practicing are decreed by the Church as requirements like the God parents have to be practicing Catholics and they must be present during baptism.

+ Godparents +
The role of the godfather and/or godmother is very important. They must be firm Catholic believers, able and ready to help the newly baptized—child or adult—on the road of Christian life.
To ensure this, a godparent must be at least 16 years old (for maturity's sake), fully initiated (having received Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist), be someone other than the legal parents, and one who leads a life in harmony with the Church.
Would you like someone who does not take his or her faith seriously to "to help the newly baptized on the road of Christian life"?
+ Growth in Catholicism +
According to the Center for Applied Research in the Apostolate at Georgetown University, the worldwide population of Catholics is as large as it ever has been and is still growing:
1970 = 653,600,000
1975 = 709,600,000
1980 = 783,700,000
1985 = 852,000,000
1990 = 928,500,000
1995 = 989,400,000
2000 = 1,045,000,000
2004 = 1,114,000,000
And in the U.S.:
1965 = 45,600,000
1975 = 48,700,000
1985 = 52,300,000
1995 = 57,400,000
2000 = 59,900,000
2005 = 64,800,000

The whole idea of the godparents being Catholic and members in good standing in the church is that they are to help the child grow in the faith. Would you want an atheist teaching your child about religion? There are not all that many requirements. It is all in the child's best interest.

You're missing something.
Jesus instituted the Sacraments for the members of His Church. Jesus, being Divine, is above the Church; beyond it. The "rules" of the Church apply only to the members, not to the God that the Church worships.

the idea is to raise the child in accordance to the responsibility of the the child understanding his faith,to be role models for the child.My wife and I were going to be God parents and were denied,but it was explained to me why and what the responsibility was and that they are turning away from the free ride to be Godparents.I understand it,and why they are getting more strict.Like so many that have fallen away from the Catholic church(descending from Peter the Apostle)is because they want God to bend around them and not the other way around.its hard to follow rules,and though I'm not the best practicing Catholic,I get it.

Baptism is a sacrament of the Church, and if you do not choose to follow the teachings of the Church why do you want to get your infant Baptized anyway? Its not just an excuse for a party, or a right of passage, its a Holy Sacrament, and you have to be prepared, to accept and embrace it fully, for yourself and your child.
It like saying I want one part of the Church for my child, but don't believe I should have to accept the rest, for them or myself.
If you don't want all the rigmarole that goes with it, why not just have a "naming ceremony". Many Civil Celebrants do this as well as performing marriages. Then you can have your party, celebrate the birth, and not involve the Church.
Its your choice.

only one of the Godparents has to be Catholic.
Parents who are practicing Catholics don't always need to take classes.
Godparents are their to assist the parents in raising the child according to scripture.
