There is a great glucosamine and MSM product called Agility that is holistic and has greatly helped my 10 year old dog . I also give him Omega 3 Fish Oil as it reduces inflammation of joints as well as helps all organs function properly.
I purchase these from the source below as they are not available in a store. These are great products and you will be very pleased if you try them. My dog is doing so well on these supplements as well as the food from this company. Look under the people link for the fish oil and under pets for the agility- the fish oil is under people as it can be used for both humans and pets.
I hope this is helpful to you and your dog.

That's about it. The only food additives that have shown promise are large molecule Glucosomine HCl, fish oil, and (recently) vitamin E. However, these are slow to have affect and generally their effect is mild compared to the drugs. Also, whether or not they work seems to vary largely from dog to dog. Mild, daily exercise, heat, and keeping the dog at the low end of normal weight also provide benefit. If mobility is severely hampered and this is rear-end arthritis, you might consider a wheel cart but these can not be left on for long periods.

Are you giving your dog glucosamine? It takes a while to show effects, but it can help. Also what meds have you tried?
