no he wont go blind.. dont worry.. more than likely he will have a bruised eye if its not opening the vet can give u medication for his eye and in a few weeks itll be as good as new.. i see this all the time at work and it always gets better but dont worry it can wait til morning but just leave it alone and let the vet handle it tomorrow unless ur totally freaking out now than u can bring him to the animal emergency clinic where u live but it maybe way expensive for something that isnt life threatening ya know so just hold on there and ur dog will be ok

Your best bet would be to find an emergency vet clinic - call your vets office and the machine will likely have a number you can call. If you absolutely can't find anyone, just try to keep your dog comfortable and try to prevent him from rubbing his eye. A cold pack or cold towel might help with the swelling if he will let you hold it on for awhile. If the chain just hit the outside of his eye - his eyelids - then there will likely be no permanent damage. If the chain connected with the eyeball itself, there may be anything from a small scratch (ulcer) to a more serious cut into the eye itself which could compromise his vision.

ps - an animal hospital is just another name for a clinic, and they will likely have a vet on the premises or on call (otherwise they couldn't legally medically diagnose and treat animals)

It's probably just swollen from the trauma of being hit in the eye, just like yours would close if someone hit you in the eye. Put a cold compress on it , if he will let you and that might give him some relief. If not back to normal in the morning, or the eye itself looks funny, take to vet. It might have to be an emergency vet but you don't want dog to lose eye if he does'nt have to

Is he a really friendly and mellow dog, if so i would try to open it. the reason i asked if he was mellow is because some dogs get afraid easily and i don't want you to get bitten, i know it is your dog but anything could happen. after put an ice pack on his eye, if you have one handy, a bag of ice will do the trick as well. If nothing happens after you have tried that i would call and emergency vet. poor pooch, i hope he turns out to be ok. good luck!!!!

I just got reading all of your other questions.
either your dog is deaf, stupid, or you are abusing him. Are you hitting your dog with a chain because he won't come to you?

For a moment there I thought the dog had you pretty well trained. You came to him, and you gave him treats for no reason, but then all of a sudden he is not doing anything. Now his eye is hurt.

You need a trainer! Not for your dog but for you. You are not ready ot own one.

well you can maybe put some ice on it to make any swelling go away but not too much. if he seems like he doesnt like the ice dont force it.i dont think he will go blind but you might want to take him for a checkup. really theres nothing you can do right now, so just try to make him feel better.

Your vet will have a number on his answering machine to call in case of an emergency. It may be his home number or it may be an emergency clinic. Call, expalin, and ask if it can wait until morning.

Try putting a warm tea bag on it.The tea bag should pull anything nasty out.You could try a warm rag to.I would take him to the vet in the morning though.

he'll probably be fine, make sure nothing touches his eye, except maybe you should put a bag of ice with a cloth over it to his eye, to help ease the pain...it depends how hard you hit him in the eye to get him blind........good luck! :)
