Unless it's sugarfree gum containing Xylitol, your dog will probably pass it and be okay. Xylitol can cause problems so if your gum had that, you should take your dog to the vet or if he/she seems to be having problems in the next day or two passing it, take your dog to the vet.

If the gum was sugar free and contains Xylitol (Stride and Orbitz are the only 2 I can think of now, but there are more) you need to get emergency care for your dog immediately. That ingredient is deadly to dogs. I believe there is enough in 1 piece per 10 pounds of dog to kill it. If it is not sugar free (or is a sugar free gum w/o Xylitol) then you should have nothing to worry about.

How big is your dog, and how much gum did he eat?
If your dog is little (toy breed or a puppy), then I hope it wasn't more than a piece or two. If your dog ate more than that, you'll want to call a vet.
If your dog is Lab-sized, hopefully, he didn't eat more than a package.
But you may want to call the vet, anyway, just to be sure.
Edit- Gwinn- #5 is FUNNY!!!-- A dog with peanut butter on the roof of his mouth or on his nose is the best laugh ever!!! I can put PB on a dog's nose all day!!... or at least till my sides hurt too much to move. You'll laugh so hard you'll cry!

dogs eating gum is NOT something you should just blow off. do NOT let 'nature take it's course'. if it is sugarfree gum, it contains xylitol which is toxic for your dog. as soon as you realize your dog has eaten it, give him a couple teaspoons of hydrogen peroxide and wait for him to throw up. if he doesnt throw up in about 10 min, give him another teaspooon. (for smaller dogs, dont exceed 4-6 teaspoons). your dog should throw up the gum and you'll both be fine. the wrappers are also bad for your dog, they could block his digestive system.

1. Take of pictue and sell it to a publisher of silly stuff that happens to you and your dog in life?
2. Post a question on the internet.
3. Wait for him to go to the bathroom.
4. Buy more gum AND KEEP IT OUT OF HIS REACH!!!!!
5. Give him peanut butter (it is far more entertaining)
6. Intoduce him to milk bones.
In that order.

Is the dog choking? If so, it's probably too late now.
If not, the dog will pass it just as you would had you swallowed it. It'll be fine.

I dont think it should be a problem. Just let him digest it. My dog has eaten tons of things and turned out fine. Dont worry. And DONT panic.
