We need to reduce our oil dependency. The oil supplies will run out. That is a fact. We need to stop talking about investing in alternative fuels and actually do it. The technology is there. If the government would invest in things like this instead of blowing ridiculous amounts of money on a ridiculous war, we might actually make some progress in this country. I don't mean to go on a rant about my political views but I seriously think this administration has caused this country to take a giant step backwards. A war that we'll be paying for for generations, no government funding for stem cell research, a ban on gay marriage (a complete violation of Civil Rights). Why the hell can't we gain any real progress?

Increase supply and reduce demand.

Insist your elected representatives open new areas for drilling like ANWR. Also insist that more refineries are allowed to be built, since we haven't built any in 30 years.

On the demand side, stop using so much gas!

The prices we are seeing are caused simply by an ever increasing demand by more people, more driving, and less fuel efficient vehicles over the last 20 years, while supplies have not kept up.

They'll keep charging that much as long as we keep paying, and all the whiners I see here only complain, but refuse to take any action. As long as you keep buying it, they'll keep raising prices.

If people were as diligent in doing something about gas prices as they are in complaining about "poor education in our schools" we'd all be able to drive our kids to school without taking out a small loan to fill our gas tanks.

Complain to your Congressmen/woman, Representatives, etc. about alternatives. Good Gawd, there's plenty of them out there; however, the large oil companies know that they have us by the ying-yangs because no one does anything about it, other than complain.

As it is most people just sit around the pump and gripe about $4.00/gal........but they still drive when they could walk or ride a bike.

Write letters to people that count, on the insistance that we get alternative fuel methods. There's too damn many out there and they're ignoring them all for oil byproducts.

Stop whining about it. It's going to go up weather we like it or not. I'm surprised it took this long. With everyone spending $35,000 to $50,000 for gas hungry pickups and SUVs there just sending a big message to the oil companies that they love buying gas. So now we get to suffer for every ones stupid choice in transportation. It's still cheaper here than in Europe.

Research alternatives and use them. Biodiesel isn't out of your reach, and you can make it yourself. E100 ethanol is used in Brazil, they found a solution. Stay home Memorial Day Weekend and don't use extra gas and put extra $$$ into oil co's pockets. Don't wait for someone else to solve the problem for you, the gov't, oil co's, and US auto co's don't care about your problems. That's what you/we can do about it.
