If you don't mind being in small closed spaces, they are OK. I freaked out because they left me alone and I had a panic attack. Claustrophobic. The tech said I would not be alone. She lied. But you can climb out if necessary.

My daughter has had them. First they are pretty expensive. My father-in-law use to joke that MRI's stood for Money Rolling In. ha-ha. Second they are painless, but you do have to keep still. The space is small so if you have claustrophobia it might be a little uncomfortable. Basically you are being put into a tube and the magnetic imaging does its thing.

Three days ago. You sit in a tube for a long time and are not supposed to move around much. They have multiple sets that they need to take to complete the image, these take between 30 secs and 3 minutes each, it took 35 minutes for mine and it was for my torn rotator cuff. There is some noise, vibration and a little tingling. No pain. If you are not claustrophobic it is painless but very boring.

All I can remember is that they did an MRI of my brain and my head...
They stuck me in there for about 30 minutes... they will tell you over and over that it is almost over, cuz you do start to get a headache...
Then after the 30 minutes... they inject you with a type of dye, and it circulates to your head and your whole body, then they do another 30 minutes of scans...

Of course if you move during this, it messes it up, and they have to start over...

I was still for the first 30 minutes, then they told me not to move, yet the nurse said "Alright, Im about to give you a shot in your hand here, you see"
so I automatically looked up to see the big A** needle that she had... and she told me "you werent supposed to move"
I started screaming "You tell me not to move, but then tell me to look at a needle that is about to stick me... you idiot"
so thats about what my last one was...

The whole MRI ended up taking like 2 and a half hrs...
and you willl not leave there without a headache... I gaurantee it...
