I take the Emergen-C brand lozenge to help my immune system.It contains 1,000 mg of vitamin C along with a variety of other vitamins and the directions say that you can take up to 3 lozenges/1-2 times per day, so that's a lot.3-4,000 mg is safe as long as you don't take this dosage for long term, only a couple days is okay.Normally, I just take 1 of the orange flavored chewable 500 mg vitamin C as a dietary supplement with meals.Consult your pharmacist to make sure what is safe, since you're a teen.I think drinking cold medicine would help heal your cold faster.Talk to your doctor to find the proper cold medication and dosage.

Taking more than 3000 mg a day is probably harmless but not recommended if you wish to be on the safe side. Less than 3000 mg a day is probably better than more. read the label on your vitamin c container. However vitamin c tablets are water soluable so if you take too much your liver/kidneys can easily deal with the excess amount. But yes 4000mg is WAY too much. id say 1500mg tops.

if u have a cold, den just take around 500mg per day.
4000 mg is definitely too much. It will be excreted in ur urine. wat a waste.
