Sit-ups is the best and most effective way to get rid of your belly fat. It worked like magic for me. Good luck

Well I dont think sit-ups will work depending on how much belly fat you have to lose. You can't spot "target" any area. The only way to lose belly fat is to lose fat overall. although it always seems like you will lose the fat first from the areas that you dont want to lose it from like hips, butt, etc. The best way to do this is cardio and naturally watching fat content. Try under 30 grams ar most per day(this is hard to do) Cardio alone will help but it will take some time. You will notice that you will start to lose inches slowly then all of a sudden your stomach will be flat. After you have lost the desired amount of fat, then you can do situps. You can then tone the underlying muscle, but you can tone ups all you want but if there is a layer of fat over it, you will never be able to tell.

I lost about four inches down to a size 29 in about 2.5 months but working out and watching fat. I am about 5'2'. I could stand to lose a little more but, it's better than what it was :)

Unfortunatly the advise to do ab crunches and swimming is poor advice you wont see abz unless you have around 12% body fat crunches will only harden your abs and make them more defined when you lose the fat being a pointless excersize until you have lost the fat as for swimming you will not lose any weight from doing this.Low carbs this is key eat every 3 hours small meals dont gourge no complex carbs after 8 regular excersise get that heart rate going nothing to mad brisk walk maybe a jog mix it up or you will get bored do around 20 minutes workout a day and in 3 months you will be please with the result let me know how you get on.

overall weight (fat) loss
find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

Seriously now, low carb diet, it only takes about 5 days to get used to it, and any kind of ab crunches you can find or think of. This is the hardest fat to get rid of.
