In some states the poor kid has to be 4'9". How embarrassing is that? Pretty soon they will force small adults to squeeze into a car seat. I wonder how much money some car seat manufacturer paid for this law. How does one check campaign contributions to those who voted this nonsense into law?

I hear that! The state has become consumed with making driving like a felony level scrutinization. The DMV in some states is like a leftist social organization with police in about ten levels of red tape. Illegal aliens with eyesight that is not trained for our type of traffic system can get licenses, while uniform plays psychologist and nurse.

Nonsense? Saving children is nonsense? Shame on you. Booster seats are used for children too big for child car seats. A booster seat raises a child up so the safety belt fits properly. All children under 8 years old should be placed in a booster seat, unless they are more than 4-feet 9-inches tall. You looked only at the height, you must consider the age as well. Short adults are not the same as 8 year old children.

So according to "Fred_C" short adults are expendable??? 4'9" is a little tall to be riding in a car seat, I can see why this is going to be a pain for all of us with younger kids. The best thing to do is check with your local DMV and hope that you don't fall under the new guidelines.

I'm glad the USA is finally coming up to standard when it comes to car safety. BTW booster seats aren't needed for short adults because their stomach muscles are sufficiently developed.
