Can klonopin be taken recreationally and if so, what does it do?

how much klonopin should be taken to feel high like side effects, i know people take it recretionally..please i dont want to hear any "anti-drug" crap..im just looking for a straight answer

I have been taking klonipin for 12 years. I only felt the effects for a day or two,it comes on slowly and wears off slowly.No high at all,you would OD before you could take enough to get high. It is not a recreational drug! I added this after seeing the answer to take 100mg this person wants to kill you! klonipin comes in .25-.5-1-2. 22mg can be fatal! Find something else to get high off of.

no high whatever. it does provide a short term sense of well being, I think two months is about the max I would try it. Use it for PTSD as the Anti-d's stop working after a time and need to be changed. reducing the SSRI can lead to seizure or seizure like reactions ( electric shorts) and aggression and irritability. the Klonopin reduces that until the new one kicks in.

LISTEN CLOSE WHEN I SAY THIS I was prescribed 4 2 MG a day for a year yes they will mess you up but not worth it I got addicted bad dtopping 4 2 MG in my mouth at once but 2 2MG take the first split the second drink 2 beers take another half by end night you'll be alright

It will make you feel drowsy and calm and level headed.
If you use it regularly it will stop working due to tolerance and you will become addicted.
If you mix it with opiates or alcohol there is an increased risk of overdose and death.
The high is basically similar to alcohol in some ways.
Klonopin is a benzodiazepine and is related to valium and xanax chemically and shares the same properties. If you want info on benzodiazepines in general then google benzodiazepine.
The withdrawals can be serious if you do get addicted and can include seizures, anxiety, psychosis.

I have friends that sometimes take 2 or 3mgs for 'recreational use' and all it does is make them tired and want to sleep. I'm prescribed Klonopin for my anxiety and I've taken up to 5mg and not gotten any enjoyment out of it at all. It's boring to me and just makes me want to take a nap sometimes. I won't give you any kind of anti-drug speech but Klonopin really isn't a pill that's all that 'fun' to take. It's somewhat like getting high off a sleeping aid. It will just make you feel like laying down, if anything at all since it's a sedative.

Don't listen to the person who said take 100-200mg. That will KILL you. My doctor won't even give me a bottle of more than 30mgs at a time in 1mg pills. For me to take 100-200mgs, I'd have to take a few BOTTLES of pills at one time. I'd be dead and covered in puke. You can't even get them in anything higher than a 2mg pill.

Taking just one can give you a high. You are really not suppose to take this type of drug recreationally. You can overdose from this drug if you take to many.
