Programming (C primarily, some C++ & java, too much database interaction crap lately) and systems administration at a UC. This means I'm paid better than most, but it's not quite computer industry ($120-160k for my level). Their choices have been either accept the tattoos, start paying me my real worth, or get signed up for every spam list on the planet... in triplicate. So far they're choosing option #1.

I am a educator for hairline product/haircolor company. I'm very lucky cause individuality is really encouraged. I am sleeved on my right arm from wrist to bicep. I don't cover anything up. Everyone I know in my industry has sort of tattoo on em. I couldn't see myself working in any other industry. I hear of people having to cover up at work, that would just blow.
Great question by the way:)

I usually cover mine, but not because I want to. It's just hard to be taken seriously in the role of the psychologist with half sleeves or naked women. Plus, most employers have a dress code that includes tattoos and piercings. I prefer to cover them rather than have my work performance be judged based on appearance. But I let them hang out when I am not at work. I love my tattoos.

Plus, I work with developmentally disabled individuals. They could potentially pose a threat to my expensive addiction. By covering them, they are more protected.

Depends on your job myself I have a couple tats on my stomach and one on my left arm I chose to cover them up. In my line of I work as a mechanic at shipyard tats are really no issue but there are some jobs that in the public eye or white collar jobs that would not be really receptive of a tat that shows so that would be something to keep in mind.

I work for a steel fabrication firm in the office as Chief Estimator. Some of the guys working in the shop have tattoos. The people in the office know I have tattoos but they stay hidden when I'm at work. Because of their location I would have to wear a sleeveless shirt to work to show them which is not allowed in the dress code. Our receptionist has one on her ankle (rose), one on her shoulder (butterfly) and one somewhere on her back. No one in the office has a problem with her ink.

I usually do accounting/consulting for work and I have 4 tattoos (1 on my face, yes my temple, one on my neck, 1 on the ankle and 1 on my thigh) and I never had an issue. I do have special stage makeup specifically designed to cover tattoos, but I never had to use it. My supervisors said as long as they were not offensive, it didn't make a difference if they were visible.

I work in research (scientific), and there's no dress code or rules about visible tats. Sometimes they're visible when it's hot in the summer and I'm sleeveless, but generally they're hidden. But even when visible, I don't get any grief about them. Luckily, I've found the research field, especially in academia as opposed to government work, to be more open-minded about everything.

none of my tattoos are visible at work but there are people (guys) who work here with visible tattoos. i'm sure tho, being a girl i would get a lot of stares and they would generally be snobbishly frowned upon but i could have them. however i feel that i am not at a point in my life in which i want to have visible tattoos that i would have to make an effort to cover on a daily basis. maybe when i am older and wiser and am sure of the decision to do it.

My husband was in the military and when he got his he had to get it in a place where you couldn't see it. He had to get in on his upper left shoulder. In the military it's against the rules to get a tattoo where you can see it when your waring the military uniform. He is now out of the military and he is working as a mechanic.

I worked as an accountant for years, and am now changing professions. I had my tattoos put in places where it would be easy to cover up.
