I was rised with "If you can't say anything nice....don't say anything at all." Which I try to follow to the best of my ability.
Then as I grew, they told me "honesty is the best policy."
This is very important when it comes to courses envolving ethics in college.
So I developed an attitude that if someone asks me, I'm not going to lie to them.
On this forum, people constantly give me thumbs down, for answering honestly in a polite manner.

So why do they act as if we (the non-xians) are so immoral?
Is it because I don't bow to their beliefs of a cruel and vendictive father figure?

Really, would you rather be lied to...or told the truth?

Livininit- yes, last week I gave a JW a thumbs up, because her response (based on her religious teaching) was in the best interest of humanity, not just their sect of religion.

Me, personally? I would rather be told the truth. Most people don't want the truth. Alot of people actually know the truth but are asking hoping you will agree with the non-truth they are trying to fool themselves with. Happens to me all the time at work when someone asks my opinion. I have learned to avoid answering when it comes to keeping a job, but it is hard not to honestly speak your mind.

Honestly, the apocalyptic answers people give.....holy Goddess. SO, according to that guy Apostle, his truth is that you are going to burn in a lake of fire? My truth is that the Great Mother Goddess is even going to take cretins like THAT back to the Earth, and she doesn't have a lake of fire. So no worries.

As to truth or lies, in general I would rather hear the truth, but if it was a difficult truth to hear, tell me gently. Most of the time if I really listen to people, it doesn't matter, I can tell if they are telling me the truth or not. Witches' intuition I guess.

As to why some people think we are immoral, in their eyes, we are immoral simply because we don't believe in their God and their Jesus. That alone is cause for a label of immoral to be branded. It is truth to them. Perhaps, hopefully, not to all Christians. We are not immoral because of our beliefs. In truth, immorality lies a great deal more with actions than beliefs. In my opinion anyway.

Good question!

Although I am a Christian I completely understand what you are saying. I try to listen to everyone equally and I understand that we ALL have our own paths to follow in life. Judgment is ugly and anyone who passes judgment on another, even just for words typed on a screen such as this, is not living up to the true meaning of the word Christian.

I'm sorry you have had to face so many of those types of people. It's because of that kind of aggressive judgment that so many people are against Christianity anymore and more more people are choosing the Athiestic path. We are not perfect even if some of us pretend to be. Don't paint us all with the same brush just because some of us forget that we are not supposed to judge and others forget that they are not without sin.

I dont consider a thumbs down "immoral" behavior. However when I do witness it, I tell believers they are wring, and when unbelievers do it, I expect it because thats 2nd nature to them.

Id rather give my small tiny seal of approval for what its worth to people that have not exchanged the truth for a lie in order to accomodate their evil anti-Christ lifestyles.

I think you're going to get thumbs down here and there regardless of what you do. This is Yahoo Answers, which means any yahoo can hang around long enough to get the power to give thumbs down to any comment that does not jibe precisely with their worldview.

The problem is is that people ONLY want to hear what they are hoping to hear. You tell them the truth, or the truth as you see it, and it ruins their reality and their "perfect" world.
Most people do not have the ability to appreciate the world outside of their little realm. It is their way or the highway.

Personally, I'd rather be told the truth. Now, apparently whose truth is up for debate.

You may see God as your cruel Judge, but I see Him as my Loving Father because I have accepted His Son, Jesus, as my Lord and Savior. I will spend eternity in Heaven while you will spend eternity burning in the Lake of Fire. I am only being honest, but here is the good news, you don't have to, if you turn from your sins and receive Jesus into your life.

Better to be honest than to tell a lie that surly will come back to haunt you, my priest told me that many many years ago, and I live by it to this day, I am a catholic man that believes in God with all my heart, mind, and soul in what I perceive him to be, so simply believe in yourself and stay honest you will never regret it. peace be with you.
