They must love it. Why? The Americans pay for the gas twice a week when they fill up. They complain but continue to buy and pay.

I think, unfortunately, my fellow Americans are all spoiled. The rest of the world pays much more for gas than we do, except for oil-rich countries. People are crying over $3.50 a gallon, but Europe has been dealing with much higher prices for a long time

You want to see gas go up even more than 40 cents a gallon? Just write your Congressman and tell him to vote for another minimum wage increase. Then the gas station attendants have to get paid more which will force the owners of the gas stations to pass it on to everyone else by raising the gas price again. Then tell your Congressman to raise the taxes on a gallon of gas AGAIN, and that'll put the price up even more. Without the taxes and the wage increases, a gallon of gas would still be down around a buck fifty, and everybody knows it. They just WANT to blame the "greedy" oil companies.

Well, why to people in Europe pay three times that much for gasoline? The average person feels they have no control over the price of gas...they need to go to work, they want to go on vacation...so they make other sacrifices to be able to aford the gas. Many people do not live where there is adequate public transportation.

We don't love to pay more for gas than we're used to. Milk is more than 3.50 a gallon. It takes a lot more work to produce gasoline, than to pump milk. Most people are mad because the oil comanies make billions. We shouldn't complain about gas prices, but use less instead of getting angry.

If you hated it so much you'd stay home Memorial Day Weekend instead of putting EXTRA $$$$ into oil co's pockets. You'd also spread the word to others and encourage them to do the same. Then you'd look into viable alternatives and use them like what some people (and entire countries such as Brazil) are doing now, such as biodiesel, and E100 ethanol. But people do seem to love it, so much that the most they'll do is complain on YA! about it and leave it at that. And they'll go out on their vacations and run their boats and RV's, etc., etc., on Memorial weekend like money is water. Or maybe you'll sit around waiting for the gov't, or the oil co's, or the auto co's to solve the problem for you? Good luck on that one.

probably won't help but Ive been writing letters to my congressmen and women for years. people don't realize gas prices or energy prices in general have been up for over 8 years now. they were even heading up when Clinton was in office. Ive been reading the same articles about investigations that go know were for years. seems like most people have short term memories. come on people 8 years is to long without a plan to fix this.

how else do you suggest we get around? many of our smaller cities (and suburbs especially) are equipped with inadequate public transportation. there is no safe way to travel on foot or by bike. so no, Americans don't enjoy paying $3.50+/gallon of gas, but really, short of a complete overhaul of public transportation, etc, what else are we going to do? we have to work. we have to go to school. the bills aren't going to pay themselves....

loosen up...it is to prepare the Americans for three dollar and above for gas......forever..just the same tactics used to loosen up the Americans for two dollar gas.... (and) in the near future, four dollar gas.....prices equal to Europe....oil companies have more power than most third world countries and a huge extent on America and Europe, see ya, mate

Its not a matter of liking or not. Its a matter of necessity. Its like the cost of food. No matter how much it increases, we will all have to buy food to eat to live. Theres no choice. Of course, no one wants to pay alot for gasoline, but in terms of economics, there is currently alot of demand, and supply is short.
