Good question. I'm Christian and I'm medical. I deal with people suffering alllllll day long. This was my college term paper too.
In my heart, as a Christian, euthanasia is wrong. Our life and time is appointed by God, nothing more or less.
However, as a medical person, I struggle with this immensly. I see the alzheimer's patients and how could you even remotely think that they would of wanted to live like that. We do treat our animals better than our loved ones. I see ones with terminal cancer become so riddled with pain that morphine doesn't even touch it and if it does, it kills them. So yes that could be considered euthanasia there also. I look at my patients that I talked about above, and beg God to take me before I would ever become to that point. I am sure they probably said the same thing prior in their life. I am for euthanasia with huge regulations and I do realize that opens a Pandoras box. You have to think of the conniving kids waiting for the inheritance etc. Gma could of just had a TIA and will recover nicely but while she is on the vent, wham...
So yes, its a good question and its hard for me to deal with on both sides.

Personally I think the extent to which we go to keep people "alive" these days is abhorrent. How is sitting on a hospital bed being fed through a tube, not that you'd know it because your brain has ceased functioning so you have no real "life" to speak of, the right thing? It's just a prison for your soul at that point.
Any pet owner can tell you there comes a time when the creature has suffered enough and it is the best decision to let them go to the afterlife (I said best, not easiest decision)
If only we could feel this way about people, how much less suffering there would be in the world. There's no point in keeping a body alive artificially after all brain function has ceased. The soul is ready to move on.
It's the rest of us that have trouble letting go.

Well, I think it is wrong to actually take a life before time. I do sincerely hurt for those who suffer with cancer and such. A long, lingering, painful death is hard to watch. One of my brothers died this way. But, still, life can only be given by God. It is sacred. To take it violates that sanctity. We all have a destiny with death, whether we suffer or not.....but it is at the hand of God to take back that breath He gave. The Lord giveth and He taketh away.
Having said that, I think life support is another matter. I know it's a hard decision to take a loved one off life support, but I see it as artificial life and extending life beyond what God wants for that person. I have peace about the rightness of removing life support, though I know it would be a hard choice to make.
Having said that, I don't think signing living wills is the answer either. When my mother was ill and her heart would fail, because she signed a living will they didn't want to revive her every time her heart stopped. But, she wanted to be revived because her mind was fine and most of the time her body was fine too. She could live a quality life as she was, but certainly not if they didn't revive her. We went through this over and over and the nurse would bug her again and again to make sure she still wanted to be revived. If I hadn't been in the hospital every day and night, I think they would have let her die, even though she made it plain she wanted to be revived. When she signed the living will, she thought it was only in case she was on life support or she wouldn't have signed it.

The traditional line has been that it is only God's job to decide whom to call Home at any given time, even though humans may not understand why He takes some quickly and allows others to linger.
Now, however, I think you'll find active, believing Christians on both sides of the issue, and some straddling the fence. You'll have to ask us individually.
Personally, I hold with the traditional view that God knows what He is doing even when we don't understand it or understand Him; therefore, we need to let Him decide.

I don't think Euthenasia is ethical. This actually has nothing to do with my beliefs. I believe this because there are breakthroughs in medicine everyday and by taking the life of someone just because they are ill before it is their time, I believe we are robbing them of the chance of being healed or cured if a medical breakthrough were to occur in their favor. For example, a person has Alzheimer's and the family chooses to Euthanize that person. The person could have lived another year with the current medication. 6 months later a medical breakthrough happens and there is a now a medicine that rebuilds the brain tissues destroyed by the disease, eventually leading to cure. That person has been robbed of the chance at a better life.

if you're dying from something terminal, like the last stages of cancer. Why should you be kept alive as long as possible to suffer? I think if there is no chance of you living, euthanasia should be used.
If someone wants to die but has a chance of living, Euthanasia should not be used.

We are all sad when we see so many people suffering, but that dose not allow us to take the life of another human being, there is simply no justification by helping someone die, and If one dose, then in my belief you are simply committing murder plain and simple.

I dont believe in giving drugs to quicken ones death. But I do believe that if you have a living will that it should be followed no matter what. I dont believe in life support at all.

Bad thing....we start saying it's OK to kill old people...then it will be OK for abortions, then the mentally ill and the infirm....who decides which life has value? We need to value ALL LIFE now.
