My grandmother said she saw her mother after she died and said she was doing ok and then went away. Does this happen a lot or could it have been in her mind? Why and how does this happen, if you know?

How does it work that we recongnize them? And why , what makes them want to let you know this? I am really curious.

Ok I can't say I saw a "ghost" but a year after my Grandmother died (she raised me and we were very close and she died suddenly) I had the most vivid dream I have ever had in my life about her. I never got to say goodbye to her and I was not able to let her go.

She came to me in the dream and told me that it was ok. She told me that she was happy and where she needed to be now and that she loved me very much. She asked me to let her go, gave me a kiss on the cheek and left. I woke up soaked in my own tears but with a peace over me that I have never felt before in my life. I knew it was her and I knew it was her way of coming to me. The fact that I knew it was all that mattered to me, it never mattered if anyone else ever believe it.

I've always been curious about the paranormal, however I do not pursue it for myself. I watch Ghost Hunters, but I don't go to haunted houses looking for spirits. LOL, for good reason!

If it just happened like to your mom, then that is fine as long as it was of God and not demonic trickery.

BUT, if your mom sought the encounter through black magic or a medium, then it is a sin. (See 1st Samuel 28:7-25)

I have an Internet acquaintance that said this happens to her often with her husband materializing. I don't know if I believe her. I hope it's not demons playing with her heart strings. They are old and know much just by watching your life. They could emulate a dead loved one.

There are several times people were raised from the dead in the bible, but also times when people were denied access to family to give warnings against hell.

I would conjecture that a real experience would be angelic as a messenger rather that the actual spirit already enjoying heaven or suffering hell.

When both my grandmothers died, I had dreams of them that gave me that same assurance. I know it wasn't really them, but God comforting me that all was okay.

In one, I walked up to my grany's house and knocked on the door. She peeped through the curtain on the door's window (her real house had no such door) and said, "Ohhh look who it is!" and called my name back to someone down the hall. She had such a lovely sweet old smile about her face, and she seemed genuinely happy. But then she said I couldn't come in, that it wasn't a place for me yet. Then she looked back and said something like "be right there", and I got a glimpse of the person she was entertaining. It was Jesus, or so my mind told me, and I got real excited. But I knew I wasn't meant to see yet, so I waved to my granny and woke up.

No, but I did see a human shape at the open door to a woman's bedroom. She was asleep and I had heard something that woke me up (you fill in the details,OK?)

In the morning her 6-y/o daughter said her deceased father had come to see her the night before.

Gives me the chills just remembering it.

If you are a sensitive person they will come to you. Sometimes to let you know they are fine and some to give you a message of something that needs to be done and they need your help.
