During the years 1992-2001 Dale & Gordon raced 258 times head to head. Here is the numbers:

Wins: Jeff 52 , Dale 23 = Jeff
Top 5's Jeff 129 , Dale 101 = Jeff
Top 10's Jeff 166 , Dale 160 = Jeff
Avg Finsh Jeff 11.8, Dale 10.8= Dale
Campionships Jeff 3, Dale 2 = Jeff

Well that means with out opinons then Gordon is better hands down. Dale fans don't say it's because Dale was at the end of his career because you say," He'd have 10 Championship if he was here", and don't say Jeff had better cars because Henrick was average before Labonte and Gordon made it great, and that is why Jimmie gets the silverspoon, Gordon made the spoon! Don;t say era because Petty was the best of the old school racers. I think Dale was great, but Gordon beat him in the years they raced eachother. Numbers don't lie! Gordon had 29 more wins, 28 more top 5's, 6 more top 10's, and one more Championship in the years they faced eachother. Gordon is better then Dale , but he won't catch Petty

Your right numbers dont lie:
If we are going off of stats, 7 cups to 4 cups.
Avg finish means more consistant - Dale 11, Jeff 12.8

Wins are nice, but cups are better.

JEFF GORDON HIMSELF HAS SAID HE WILL NEVER BE WHAT EARNHARDT WAS. PERIOD, END OF STORY. Why cant Gordon fans let it go? Jeff is a great driver, I even rank him in my top 5, but in the end, he's a skid in Dales shorts.

But I'm in the boat that doesn't care about the stats, Dale was so much more to his fans than a stat, a # or anything else. He was the American Dream, he was the common everyday man, the sport would never be what it is today with out Dale.

I'm a Hendrick fan and I can tell you that yes Jeff Gordon was better than Dale Earnhardt, in Victories and Top 5's. Heck when Gordon finishes his career he will be better than Cale Yarborough and Darrell Waltrip as well. However, you cannot compare the championships Dale had versus Jeff. Dale had seven and Jeff is working on his fifth. I know Dale would have had a hard time winning another, but I think he could have done it. I think Gordon has two championships left in him, but that is asking a lot in a sport that thrives on constant technology advancement and competition.

Dale was in his peak earlier in his career. Plain and simple. Jeff Gordon is really good though. I think Dale was the better driver. Has some of the better passes in his career. I mean, come on have you ever seen Jeff go down in the grass to pass someone?

Hands Down???? Wow, you had a lot of idle time to fit all this into your theory huh? You take Dale stats starting at his 14th season because that is when Gordon started? Gordon didn't have to race against the top 5 career race winners when they were winning either. That point always seem to get lost when Gordon fans try and do something silly like justify why they feel Gordon is better. He raced against Waltrip during Waltrips last three years only. Numbers certainly don't lie but you sure can skew them to fit your argument. Your entire argument is opinon as you feel it is the deciding factor.

Numbers dont always make the man!! As dale jr would say "IT DONT MEAN $H!T!!" I am not a Sr fan for the numbers. Dale was so much more than a number and as a nascar fan Im sorry you had your head "where ever" and didnt get to see the true Dale Earnhardt Sr.

Dale won his 7 championships in 16 seasons. Gordon would have to win 3 in the next two years to equal that.

You are so right. But Earnhardt fans will never admit it. They are like liberals, they deny the obvious facts.
