I must say, the likely hood that you are actively having hepatic (liver) with occasional alcohol use if very atypical and practically unheard of . Usually hepatic pain will not become obvious without substantial acute or chronic processes such as Chirrosis, Liver cancer or both mechanical and viral Hepatitis. I shall produce two much more likely scenarios. Ethanol alcohol ( beer, wine and hard liquor) is highly agitating to the gastro intestinal tract. Dependent upon how sensitive you are to this reaction and how much you drink; you will clearly feel and upset stomach, bloating and gas. Gas tends to collect in the large intestine, particularly in the right upper quadrant of the abdomen where your liver is located. If you have a pain that decreases when you pass gas, you probably have your answer. Remember that alcohol consumption will lead to significant amounts of gas production. Forgive me for being crude, but we all know what the " beer farts " are like. Another possibility is the inflammation and agitation of you gall bladder. It is also located in this area and may be agitated by alcohol consumption. I will not go into details, but if you would like to know more please write me. I guess the best solution would be the avoidance of alcoholic beverages if it is causing you discomfort. Good Luck and drink in moderation...

I dont know how youve determined that its your liver that hurts, thats a pretty hard thing to feel. Its prob more like a kidney or maybe your bladder - who knows. Liver damage occurs to those who abuse alcohol for a very long time and its virtually painless. There are of course, other symptoms, but pain isnt one of them, so its doubtful its your liver thats causing you pain. And the fact that youve only been drinking 5 mo.. well...Also, you havent given your age, if youre on any medications, how much youve consumed daily over the past 5 months, so little info..I think maybe if this pain you have continues, you should consult your MD.

Go see a doctor as this may be a sign of a serious medical condition. You may have a chronic liver condition known as cirrhosis which is simply an auto digestion of liver cell due to alcohol or other problems. But don't take my word for it. Best bet is to see a doctor.

It could be your liver screaming for mercy.
alcohol goes straight into the blood stream and then to
your liver which tries to clean out what it percieves as a poison. you may have no tolerance for drink.
P.S. you need your liver so listen to it.

To put it simply:
Alcohol is a poison and your liver filters poisons out of your system. So, when you are drinking alcohol you are over-using your liver and thus causing damage to it.
