some people blame God because they don't want to blame themselve for something that happened because of their choices.
bad things happen because sometimes we are victims of other peoples' sins. but i don't give satan credit either, as I will not empower him by doing that.
sometimes, things happen that in all honesty, arent about me, and don't concern me in the long run... .when my dad died, it wasnt God doing something bad to me... it was between God and my dad. I was affected by his death, but in the long run, it was dad's time to go.... God provided 19 extra years for dad when in all rights, he should have died long before.
satan is NOT a god.... and i will not give him that title... he is a wanna be who will lose in the end....
God is giving and forgiving, just and right....

"so why do people blame God when bad things happen?" Because that's part and parcel of being omnipotent - it means that you not only can do anything, but that you ARE everything. That means the good and the bad. By the by, do you consider your god to be omniscient? If so, then by extension you must accept that we already lack free will (or admit to a paradoxical belief): Knowledge of all that can and will happen precludes any choice, which means free will cannot exist in a universe where an omniscient being is.

Isaiah 45:7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.
If ever there was a perfect opportunity for the writer to blame Satan for the world's evils, now was it; but no, he was inspired by Almighty God to inform the reader that GOD creates evil as well as good. Too bad the Bible does not agree with Christianity on this point.

God is love. Evil and suffering ultimately stem from human sin, and the torments of the devil. The devil is nowhere near God, in power, goodness, or glory. All beauty flows from the Lord, He is the source of all grace and goodness, God does not send out evil, only mercy and love.

I guess its natural in us to cast blame.. and God won't argue back with us so we go right ahead and blame Him.
But you are right in my opinion when u say that we should cast the real blame where it is deserved.. on satan. He is the Devil.. tempting us into sinning and then The Accuser..pointing a finger at us the minute we commit the sin.
Our God is loving and Has not just given us a way out of every temptation and sin..but has provided HIMSELF as our Way Truth and Life.
May we pray to the Lord and ask that we not be lead into Temptation but to be delivered from evil.. That each day we learn to take in His word into our hearts and let it dwell in there richly. So when satan comes to us with temptations and sin we would not be so easy in falling for it, but the word will be richly available to us to resist him and cause him to flee.
Grace be to all the christians on here...

I think it's this way for a couple of reasons. First, people usually see God as the one who controls everything (free will may play into this, depending on who you ask). Second, saying that bad things happen because the Devil did them is, in a way, giving him power. Or, rather giving him power in our perception of him. I don't think we like to admit that Satan has any power over us and the things that happen in our lives. (If he does.) It's too scary of a thought.
And, yes I do think we should thank God every day for our blessings. It also helps to remind ourselves of how blessed we really are.

i've noticed with people they say anything good that happens to them was done by god, and the bad stuff is done by the devil or just thats how things go, i don't hear ppl blame god much, he gets a free ride for some reason. who causes earthquakes, floods, herricanes ect...its like if u pray and it comes true god did it, but if it doesn't then that is just the way it goes, it makes no sence. thats the same thing that lets "the secret" exist, nobody uses common sence.

Because nothing can happen without God's direct permission. Even Satan cannot do a thing to us unless God allows it.
Even the dumbest human realizes that this means that anything bad that happens to them, it is a direct result of God permitting or causing it, one or the other.
And bad things do not breed good feelings towards a supposedly good creator.

You're absolutely right except about one thing. The devil is not a god, he is a fallen angel, there is a difference. But other than that mistake, you are completely right, and I couldn't agree more.
