Yes there is. Bad sugar is the -trose ending. Fruitose, dextrose, etc.

Fruit has a lot of sugar. But it is natural sugar. Your body processes that much easier than processed sugar. The fruit has it anyway. Apples are very high in sugar. But that doesn't mean fruit is not good for you. It is rich in many vitamins and nutrients that your body needs.

Carbs
Yes there is such a thing as good carbs and bad carbs. Carbs are necessary for your body to have energy. Carbs are divided into simple and complex.

Just like with sugar, there is a BIG difference between the natural, wholesome, 'good' carbs we are designed to eat and the unnatural, highly-processed, 'refined' carbs. Bleached enriched bread is a bad carb.

Good carbs have these healthy characteristics:

* high in fiber: helps you stay full longer (and avoid overeating), provides sustained energy, lowers cholesterol levels, helps to remove toxins from the body
* low glycemic index: stabilizes blood sugar levels and insulin production
* high in nutrients: natural vitamins, minerals & phytonutrients promote health and help to prevent chronic disease
* low 'energy-density' (except nuts & seeds): provides sustained energy, promotes healthy weight loss and long-term weight maintenance
* greater 'thermic effect': naturally stimulates metabolism and promotes fat loss

Complex carbs also take longer to digest so you feel full longer--keeping you from returning to the fridge in an hour. Simple carbs contain very lil vitamins and minerals so mostly are just adding carbs and sugars into the diet with no real nutritional value.

I hope this helps
