I plan on getting a tattoo 4 years from now. I plan on getting the Adeline logo (Billie Joe Armstrong's clothing line) Green Day is a big part of my life, and has been with me for 3 1/2 years. I have ALL their albums (but not singles) and have changed since hearing their music. Now the point: Where in Slidell, LA can I get a quality tattoo for a nice price? And wheres the lease painful place to get it? Don't even consider: Ankle, Back, leg, neck, chest, hips, stomach. Stick to arms hands, fingers, and wrists.

I'm not from LA so I cant suggest anywhere but I can tell you my experience with placement of my tattoos. I have four so far. I suppose everyones tolerance for pain is different so keep that in mind, you can't always go with what other people tell you. For me my most painful one was on my stomach, next to my belly. It only took about 15 minutes but it killed, lol. I have one on my shoulder blade, that one hurt too. But I also have one on my arm, just below my shoulder, like between my elbow and shoulder,,,that one hardly hurt at all. I would suggest starting with a small tattoo. It kind of feels like your being carved into with a razor blade, lol. Anyway good luck hun with your tattoo! ((HUG))..................... In response to the answer above me,,,they dont make a girl look masculine if done on the arms, their cute!!

Visible tat toes when wearing normal clothing will likely affect your ability to hired into a job where you will earn more than minimum or a waitress wage.
Four years from now you might feel entirely different about placing a permanent logo on your body.
Put something on your body that identifies you as YOU, not as identified with someone you never met, or some consumer, and decide when you are independant and have to earn a living for yourself. Then you will be responsible for the outcome. Laser removal hurts like a son-a-gun, and scarring is not out of the picture for that either.
It's alright to devote a good amount of your thinking towards interesting ideas.
Here are some things that influenced me in the order that comes to mind only:
1. X -- amazing band
2. Minutemen -- amazing band
3. On the Road written by Jack Kerouac
4. The philosophy of Sartre
5. Poetry by Tennyson
6. Visual art by Mona Hatoum
7. Bjork -- I'm listening to Volta right now. It's blowing my mind.
8. Miles Davis -- Kind of Blue
9. Debussy -- Prelude to the afternoon of a faun
10. Phillip K. Dick books -- Ubik, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep
11. Richard Linklater movies -- Slacker, Dazed and Confused, Waking Life
12. Uncle Tupelo
13. Kinks -- Muswell Hillbillies, Village Green, Give the people what they want, Soap Opera
14. Radiohead -- all
15. Yo La Tengo -- all
16. Bob Dylan -- all
17. Regine Crespin -- singing Bizet
18. Beck -- genius
My point is that defining oneself by ONE thing is narrow. I will not flash a commercial brand. I'm ME.
A tat is for life. It should be about YOU. It shouldn't be about a band or a dude in a band.
You obviously are a passionate person. Reach in deep and explore. You could find out about some the things that guys in Green Day are into. What influenced them? They are an interesting bunch of guys....
Don't be afraid to deviate from the Green Day path along the way. Follow YOUR HEART, your personal song. NEVER define yourself by ONE THING. That's so ONE dimensional. You arent one dimensional are you?
Let it go for now. Wait. Wait for something that you can live with the rest of your life. Why plan for such a thing. There's so much better than labeling yourself.

i live in louisiana and there are very few people who would be allowed to tattoo me in this state. and the fact that you are getting the tattoo four years from now tells me that you shouldn't start looking for a local artist now because tattoo artist often move around. new orleans would be your best bet for finding a tattoo artist who is talented.

I would now even worry about it now. If you are not getting it for another four year. Most likely you will have changed your mind by then and want something different.

I have a tatt on my neck just behind my ear so if I need to cover it for work I can with my hair and well it didn't hurt at all. You have left your thighs , calves, tatts on womans arms don't look right in my opinion they make them look masculine.

Middle finger, just before your fingernail isn't too bad. Wrists hurt like hell, forearms are ok. Hands, don't do it.
