my brother has admitted to smoking weed for about 2-3 months.. he has claimed he has stopped and is not using anymore..and he was believable because all of his habits had changed.. recently..today my grandmother and my brother were driving to school..she let him drive to school..and she usually lets him drive to school everyday.. they take the same path everyday. this morning they were at a red light and he asked " is this the lane im supposed to be in? am i in the right lane?" when she replied yes, he said "do i get on the freeway now?"
the school is less than a mile away..he nevers takes the freeway to get there..and he has never driven on the freeway before..could this be a side effect of the weed.
this is worrying us..

Almost any drug, no matter how mild, when used to excess could have a huge impact on someone's mental ability.

Weed has an impact on short-term memory, but it doesn't fit this problem.

People's attention span can be affected while they are using weed. It sounds more likely he was stressed and took a few tokes of the good weed to get ready to face school.

A sudden relapse with weed is pretty rare. But not a concern if it only happens once.

There could be a range of other explainations. Such memory losses could be serious, and there a range of standard tests that can be done (they are paper and pencil tests) to test brain function.

no, its not a side effect, but he was probably high on it when he was driving to school that day. Weed doesnt make you stupid in a matter of 2-3 months, it takes a year or so to really screw you up like that.

No, smoking weed for 2 months will not have any effect on you whatsoever. He's just being stupid.

No, that is not a side effect of smoking weed.

The worst thing that really happens from smoking weed is lung cancer. And it is illegal, so there's that.

Many times when asked what drug a person uses or has used and weed or marijuana is listed as an after thought.
I suppose many still do not consider it a drug? It is a drug. Neurogenesis was thought to not occur ;however, a study in 1999 may refute this. Whether proven true or not, one must consider the difficulty of regeneration in cases of continued abuse ie: substance abuse. I think of the irony of teens who fight parents to the end while thinking the parent is trying to control their brains and they readily give their thoughts, impulse control and future to drugs (alcohol addiction, illegal and abuse of drugs).
The picture of the egg frying on the ground does not do justice to the actual case of the damage done to the body over this abuse whether marijuana or another drug of choice.
Psychosis brought on by abuse of drugs is really sad because that is something that could have been prevented!
See website below for information in regards to brain cell regeneration.

smoking weed does kill brain cells. depending on how strong and how often he smoked weed, he may have just fryed his brain. if youre not sure if really quit, check to see how much he eats, look for bloodshot or glazed eyes, and he will stare into space and have a blank look on his face. and he might just start laughing at anything.

Some of the common side effects of marijuana are:

Trouble remembering things
Sleepiness
Anxiety
Paranoia
Altered time perception

The following are some of the common physical effects of marijuana:

Tremors (shaking)
Nausea
Headache
Coordination becoming worse
Breathing problems
Increased appetite
Reduced blood flow to the brain
Changes in the reproductive organs

Like tobacco, marijuana contains many chemicals that can hurt the lungs and cause cancer. One marijuana cigarette can cause more damage to the lungs than many tobacco cigarettes because marijuana has more tar in it and is usually smoked without filters.

He's on something WAY stronger than weed

Did I just say that out loud?

I think he's just being a smart@$$. Playing around. I don't think he just up and quit. This is how you'd know:
Red squinty eyes
hunger (more than usual)
giggles
hiding in the room all day
irritability (when not on it)
being less alert
laziness
e.t.c.
Always look in his eyes.
