There is a treatment for severely dry skin that works. As one poster recommended Emu Oil. Unlike other moisturizers and creams it actually penetrates thru multiple layers of skin healing from the inside out. Shea Butter is also known to help heal dry skin.
What NOT to do:
Do not use Vaseline or Baby Oil. They are petroleum based products that simply sit on the skin surface and do not penetrate the skin. Also, petroleum products are not renewable resources, Last, they are known to clog pores.
Do not use hot water, only lukewarm or cool
Do not scrub the area, it will only aggrevate the condition.
What to do:
Drink lots of water to hydrate the skin from the inside
Do use an elfoliator to remove dead skin cells (a mixture of brown sugar and olive or vegetable oil will work and its fine for sensitive skin)
There is a cream called Emushea that will actuall heal the area. It's 100% natural, non-comedogenic(will not clog pores) and it contains no synthetic ingredients.
Always check the product labels. If you cant pronounce it...it's probably a chemical you dont need.

Believe it or not don't wash your face with any soap or anything for a time. Try just warm to cool water and the palms of your hands. It sounds like cleansers are drying you out. If this works then start using a sensitive cleanser, even baby soap, to wash your face.

Emu oil is the best moisturizer I've used. It is great for burns, dry skin, and all kinds of skin disorders. You can buy it at most Healthfood stores, and on the internet. It's kind of pricey, but it's well worth the money. It will not clog your pores either.
