I saw my son's bus driver take a photo of him while he was loading the bus. The camera was in the driver's lap and that is where I saw him push the button. He then slid the camera to the side out of sight. I have contacted all kinds of people with the school district but as of yet have no information on the matter. What would you do?

I would first call the school board and let them know then I would call the police and make an information report just in case something comes up regarding this person in the future. For him to hide the fact he took the picture, makes it seem suspicious even though it might be totally innocent. He should have an opportunity to explain to his superiors the reason. If the reason is not adequate, then maybe they should rethink his employment

First I am a School Bus driver. I know of no reason why anyone would take the childs picture unless he thought there might be abuse at home. I find it hard to believe that the school board or his supervisor has done nothing. Something may have happened and they did not inform you. Do not ever try to board the bus! You will be in more trouble than he is. But you can talk to him without getting on the bus. Also ask your child if there has been any unusual behavior with the bus driver. Also ask other parents whose children ride the bus if they know of anything. Don't stop asking questions till you are satisfied with the answers you have recieved.

This is a matter for the police to investigate. No bus driver should be secretly taking pictures of any student. The fact that the bus driver was trying to keep this hidden indicates the person was no doing it with the consent or knowledge of the school district, and they may be hesitant to take action based on one person's complaint.

The police, however, and more prone to take action, especially after you file a written report of your account. They have the ability to do a background check and review any other complaints that you may not know about. They can also give the information to a prosecuting attorney, who may seek a court order for the driver to give up all pictures taken so they can find out what the driver is using the pictures for.

My first reaction is also to send a "Clear" message that pictures of children are not o.k. He's the one doing something shady though and therefore it is wise to handle the situation delicately.... He should never know that you got him fired, or even suspect anything. If he's taking pictures on the bus, that says a few things... potential child porn website, stalker, potential for him to attempt to extort $$ from you. DO NOT wait to deal with the issue, DO NOT take "no" for an answer from the bus company or school board. Protecting the safety and interests of every student is a higher priority than education.... I can't think of too many lawyers who would disagree with that either.

I hope this turns out to be nothing and best of luck to you!!! :-)

I'm a parent too. Why didn't you confront the bus driver and reveal what he's doing? By doing so, you are doing a favor to a lot of parents. He could be a pedophile or a gay pedophile. Do a background check on that guy. There's nothing wrong with bullishly confronting the driver. You're concerned about your son's safety. It's your right. Hope something good will happen.

Get a baseball bat and step onto the bus. push the butt end of the bat into the drivers cheek bone and clearly state to him the condition that his face is going to be in if he ever takes another photo of any child on that bus ever again. However this may not be appropriate if there are children present. oh, and politely ask him for the camera that he used to take the picture.

Yes I would defiantly not waste time with this matter. There is way to many predators out there waiting to strike. Unfortunately it could happen to lots of children at any time. I would defiantly go to your local authorities and explain what happened, the way he went about taking the picture is what scares me and it's not worth taking a risk as to why??? Lots of sexual predators get jobs around children so they can be in there comfort zone! So weather it was for a good cause I would not take the risk. If (possible) I would keep your son far away until you figure out what his intentions are/were.
Good luck!!!

Shoot him is my first thought. But better to catch it on media, like a cell phone with recording ability. Then contact the school board and say you have video of this as proof. If he is not terminated immediately, get a lawyer!!

Being the reactionary redneck that I am, I would confront this scum and ask him directly why is he taking my kids picture. The fact he might have trouble answering because my hands are around his throat mean nothing. I understand choked croak real well.
