find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

The only way to lose weight is to burn more calories than you take in... that being said, the simplest way to do so is to add some type of cardio work to your day and try to restrict calories somewhat during the day... if you dont do any cardio at all start with walking a mile or two every other day... a simple diet tip is to try and avoid high sugar snacks/meals, and to avoid high carb meals at night. whole grain carbs are great during the day, dont listen to anyone who says otherwise, fad diets that you mentioned are just that...totally restricting carbs is simply a way to restrict carbs and lose water weight fast... duke med has done much recent research on the low carb fad and come up with some disturbing results. so do cardio, restrict cals (try and stay away from sugars if possible), and eat healthy carbs...hope this helps

drnatura.com this cleanse is awesome and you'll feel GREAT when it's all over. The body needs to be cleansed of all toxins so that you can feel great and have more energy to burn fat plus the body's metabolism speeds up after the cleanse(always look to the source of the problem) For example, acne products may clear the "outer" problem, but acne is usually caused by an "inner" problem that needs to be solved for true permanent results . Also try drinking half your body weight in ounces. If you're 100 pounds you'll drink 50 ounces. DISTILLED WATER ONLY! Take two tablespoons of 'raw organic apple cider vinegar with mother' after and before Every meal. And try to move as much as possible, walking 30 min. a day is always recommended. also take vitamins (but make sure your body is cleansed so that the vitamins will be effective)
