The simple answer is yes. But every answer has it's limits. What size bear? How far away? The .270 out of almost any gun will kill almost any bear at 100 yds. As Clent Eastwood said in the movie "You have to know your limitations".

i bear hunt every yr and using a 270 is not to bright. very few go down with the first shot unless your able to hit them between the eyes. move to a 30 caliber, 308 or 30 06 work great. u need to have somthing that will get into that bear and do some damage, they have thick tough hides and lots of fat a 270 will not go deep enough.

I would NOT recommend using 270 win on a bear especially out of a pistol. You will experience a huge loss of velocity and power. Get yourself a .444 marlin barrel with a big compensator.

I would not hunt a bear with a single-shot pistol. That seems dangerous, unless you have a guide with a rifle for backup.
